We had such high expectations for this restaurant. Sad to say my heart is broken and we will never return. Went for lunch with my coworker and i ordered a the 2 meat plate( brisket and sausage)with potato salad and shiner pinto beans, armadillo eggs as an appetizers and lastly a soda to drink. The server brings out my can soda, that is hot. I asked for a cup with ice, I never saw it. Had to drink my soda hot. Our plates never came out. We waited 40 minutes and had to get up to find my server. I saw our food sitting behind the bar in the window, i let the server know if we didnt get our food, we would have to leave because our lunch hour was almost up. No sense of urgency was given to us. The server handed me my plates over the bar for me to serve myself and my coworker. When i got to my table with my food in my hands i noticed i had no sausage on my plate, my brisket was so dry it was crumbles, i had mac n cheese instead of beans and my potatoe salad tasted like store bought from a tub and our armadillo eggs were frozen jalapeño poppers fried so hard they could crack a tooth. The server finally came out from behind the bar and I advised her of my my missing sausage, Pickles, onions and extra sauce. She just smiled and walked away without saying a word. She walked back with my sausage and tossed the container on the table and walked away with out saying a word. Never got my Pickles, onions or extra sauce.... Needles to say, we both were very unhappy and we will never be back or recommend anyone to waste the lunch time or money here. I did not eat my food, I brought it home so I can give it to my dogs. I don't want to waste...

Where to begin?

I got more help from a leaving customer than an actual staff.

The chicken fried steak was so salty, you'd think it lost a presidential election to a business man who appears in 90s movies.

The mashed potatoes and gravy were also, extremely salty.

The green beans tasted like how tire smoke smells, but stronger.

And the brisket?

PURE MAGIC.

When I saw that guy adjust his trucker hat and snap on his black gloves I knew at that moment, the brisket was going to be nothing to write home about.

Boy was I wrong.

I could absolutely write home about it!

The brisket was so dry it the pit master essentially compressed dust into the shape of brisket! I was amazed at just how dry it was yet looked so good!

The only reason I give them one star is that the bbq sauce was actually really good, but despite the sauces valiant efforts, the brisket was just to dry and over powered the sauce with it's almost powdery texture.

And the sweet tea, don't get me started!

I have never had sweet tea that tasted.....dry!

It was like a liquidized powder, it just wasn't good.

The whole thing was just a bad experience topped off with the most uncomfortable music I've heard in a while.

I was trying to eat this salty chicken fried steak, when over the speakers a song about a man forcing a woman to touch him inappropriately was blaring while I'm trying to put some food in my mouth.

The whole place is just very off putting and not a very good experience.

That 4.6 google rating must be bought reviews because the experience was just bad through...

Was in San Antonio for the day, but my other half wasn’t feeling well, so we went back to the hotel, and I was on my own to eat. So I wanted to find something local to where we were staying. I saw the reviews on this place were high, and who doesn’t like a good BBQ place… so this was the winner of choice. When I arrived it was fairly slow and quiet. The back door is where you need to enter. They were out of some stuff due to an unexpected large party that had arrived and left. Since everything smoked is good, I tried the 1/2 pound plate with 2 sides. The owner was generous with what I ordered, by adding a little additional since they were out of what I really wanted. He also gave me some complementary green beans as a 3rd side, as he had plenty left yet. So I wound up with a much better value, and all he said was, “Just take care of your server, because the large party didn’t” which I thought was very nice, because he’s using extra food out of his pocket, to benefit his servers pocket. The food itself was very good. No complaints about any of it. Cooked well, warm, smoked flavor, tender, juicy, all the things you hope for. The added green beans were a tasty, addition. There was more than enough food, and I had food to take back to the room and put in the fridge for when one of us wanted some. This turned out to be a very good place and I wouldn’t hesitate to...

Wanted to try this bbq place out because of the 5 star reviews. Well, I doubt we’ll be back. Signage to find the dining room was vague but finally found the entrance. Food served in the “dining room” in styrofoam to go boxes, plastic ware etc. Portions were generous I’ll give them that. Too much fat on the brisket for my liking so I had to cut it off. The menu said served with “Texas Toast” but we were given tortillas-seriously? They were setting up a huge stage for a concert I guess and the bar area was generously filled with liquor. So this place is a bar with lots of outdoor seating. Not my idea of a nice Friday night dinner with my wife. Peach cobbler dry and tasted like it was made last week. Good luck Blue Pit.
