Anchor Grille — Restaurant in Sesser

My husband and I ate here for the first time today. Lexi greeted us at the door, we sat down, and she quickly got our drinks. They had a nice.buffet set up but we chose tonorder from the menu. I got the seafood trio and he got the grilled swordfish. Both came with a nice salad, choice of potato, and a vegetable. I got a baked potato and green beans, and my husband got mashed potatoes and cabbage. The salad was crisp and fresh, with red onion, cucumber, tomato, shredded cheese, and croutons. The thousand island dressing was really good. The main courses came out quickly. Everything was delicious and cooked very well. My entree included clamstraps. Usually clam is rather rubbery but this was really tender. The fried ahrimp had a cornmeal type breading instrad of the usual flour based and gave it a nice crunch.The fish was flaky and well seasoned. The baked potato was cooked perfectly. I sampled my husband's swordfish and it was so good. It reminded me of a nice steak. I also ordered some garlic parmesean wings to go for my son. He said they were delicious. The place was spotless, and beautifully decorated . We had the opportunity to speak with the owners and they were both very nice. All the staff we encountered were great. They have other items besides seafood, and daily specials. This is definitely a place worth...

Just observations Stood at the front no signs to seat your self Until the staff saw us standing and told us to seat ourselves We did get seated Ordered clams as an appetizer They were ok slightly over done Also got Salad didn’t have the dressing I wanted Got entree I got snapper with baked potato Wife got grilled shrimp Shrimp was cooked good but not grilled like we asked. Snapper was not cooked correctly it was a mush piece of fish Properly cooked fish with skin should be crispy it was not I was 3/4 done with meal and was told they didn’t have macaroni salad so I ordered tater tots which I ate after the meal I got a baked potato and a small container of some sort of whipped spread instead of butter for potato If you’re a seafood restaurant why not serve real butter with potatoes ? The decor was nice nautical themed the small vacuum sitting on the window sill did detract from the nautical theme I was really excited to see a good seafood restaurant in southern Il Please cooking good quality fish is challenging It’s not like deep frying catfish elevate your fish cooking skills Didn’t seem like the quality matched...

First time here and will definitely be back. Stopped last Friday and had all you can eat fish and the fish sandwich plate. Fish was cooked perfectly and talked to the owners while waiting. Family run restaurant with great food. Update, returned to the Grille 9-20-24 food and service was great. What we did not like seeing and may keep us from returning was watching the cook where his gloves out in the seating area and text on his phone then go back to the kitchen to finish cooking. After returning to the kitchen he took gloves off and was handling the cooked food barehanded. Chicken, hush puppies,onions,lettuce and cod fillet where all moved by bare hand. That is not acceptable. Hard to find a good restaurant then to have that ruin it. Maybe just don’t sit by the kitchen and you’ll never know it happened.
