El Taquito Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Shepherd

We are so glad that we stopped by for lunch, after camping in Livingston this weekend! We started with queso, chips and salsa--all very good. Then, three of us ordered the carne asada, and it was deliciosotender and flavourful, with melted cheeseyum!! Their charro beans were seasoned just right. Two of our sons ordered the stuffed and fried avocado--one chicken, one beef--devoured! One of our sons enjoyed the tortilla soup. Our little boys were very happy with their corn dog and chicken nugget plates. The service was friendly and welcoming, and we will definitely return when we are out...

Ate there on 6/25/2021 My grandson got the shrimp cocktail. The crackers were stale. The chips we got were also stale. I got a salad with my chicken diablo they had no ranch dressing for my salad.😥 On top of that the chicken was very dry. I couldn't eat all of it . Was very very dry.... I can kinda see why people don't hardly go there anymore there is never anyone in the restaurant when we go. That kinda tells me something!!... The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the waitress has very nice. I'm pretty sure I want be going back...

I hate to do this, because everybody there was perfectly nice, but it was some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had.. that includes El Charrito and Patio. It was better than Banquet, maybe? The red salsa tasted like a can of crushed tomatoes and the tamale wasn't really a tamale. They even used a piece of string cheese as the center of the cheese enchiladas, and it was only half melted so it still had the texture of the string cheese!
