Texas Grill and Cafe — Restaurant in Shepherd

Had the pleasure to eat lunch here with my wife and two kids, our waitress was very kind and mostly attentive, interior of the restraunt was very clean and very new. We had a full order of gator bites for our appetizer tasted great definitely gonna reorder one day, price was a little high for the amount though... I had the elk burger medium rare, It was great tasting and came exactly like i ordered. The in house made jalapeno cheddar bun was amazing and the price was affordable but suprised me when it didnt come with a side. I had the fried squash for my side.... Tasted like my mom cooked it. Only needed a pinch of salt and i couldnt stop eating them once i started, wish i would've had more! My wife had the bison burger with fries, and no complaints! Burger came as she ordered it, mediun.. Fries were crisp and hand cut in store i believe... Our two kids had chicken strips with fries and popcorn shrimp with fries Both were satisfactory in flavor, texture and price!

Overall my review of the place is 5 stars, greatest mom and pop restraunt ive been to in a while, if service and quality is kept up with as it was on my visit they should be in business for years to come. I will definitely...

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews, this place is mediocre at best. I tried their coffee (Black as it should be). The coffee was weak and had a food sanitizer aftertaste. Next the burgers. My entire party tried various burgers. They were clearly frozen. Every one of them were overcooked until they were a piece of rubber. The burgers also tasted of food sanitizer. Next the pricing - most everything was a la carte. At $10 per burger, that's not a good deal given the quality.. The service was terrible as well. Our waitress didn't appear to know the menu, and had to keep running in the back to answer basic questions. I overheard our waitress, (not 10 feet away) complaining she couldn't leave until she collected her tips from us. The funny part about that was we were waiting 15 minutes for her to clear our table and privide us with our check. The whole dinning experience took almost 2 hours, terrible for people on the road. The bathrooms were disgusting as well. I really wanted to like this. I love the lodge like decore and menu. Unfortunately looks were all it had going for it. Stop...

Went to the old Texas Grill passing through about 7 years ago with my wife before the tragic fire happened. I had the Bison burger and she had the brisket. We both agreed it was the best burger and brisket we ever had. It stuck with us thinking about this place and we would compare it with many places still not beating this place. We finely got to visit the new place yesterday. Very nice place but miss the old smoke house in the back and the old time atmosphere. Well I was going to get the Bison burger but had to settle with the bacon cheeseburger do to high pricing. The bacon cheeseburger was pretty good but the meat needed more seasoning. My wife was very excited to get the brisket again but it was a very small portion, very dry, and lacked seasoning/smoke. This time she had to send it back. Last time the brisket didn't even need bbq sauce, that's how good it was! Brought my son and sister-in-law with us and wish they had the same experience we had last time. Hopefully one day if we come back we will have that experience...
