Roux's Market — Restaurant in Shirley

The guy that runs the counter stares me down outside before even entering and what I thought was him greeting me turned out he was actually on the phone. When I jokingly say thought you were talking to me he replies nothing and enters behind me like I'm being followed into a gang initation. Never got off the phone the entire time. Notorious earpiece and was mad when i asked for change. I know two people personally who were not paid out on a 450 dollar keno win and when there supposed to pay up to 600. They shouldnt even offer live keno if they can't cover the winnings...Oh the kicker is m and m variety will cash what they don't. The Good: Staff polite, place was organized and always seemed clean. A large selection of products once upon a time. Deli food had generous portions, good prices, and good quality products.

The Not so good: It used to be a thriving business. But it seems like they can't keep help in the deli,or so I've been told. Or the shelves are empty, now or older or expired food products.

I don't know what happened. Rumors are always swirling around about why no one goes there any more. Who knows. It's too bad too. Because they always had an excellent selection of everything.

I accidently left my breakfast at home and stopped into Rouxs with the hope of finding something not too terribly unhealthy for breakfast. Ordered the veggie omelet and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste. Veggies were fresh and crispy(!) and lots of them. Toast tasted like it came from bakery bread. Absolutely delicious and a real surprise from what looks essentially like a (really nice) convenience store. I generally don't like eating out for breakfast, as the meals are usually soaked in butter and grease, but this tasted like a omelet I would make for myself (if I had lots and lots of fresh veggies on hand) :-) Will...
