The evening of Thursday December 28, my wife and I cautiously visited this particular Chili’s location in the town of Silsbee Tx.
We were in town visiting family. Unfortunately, this is the only establishment in this area that we know of with bar/restaurant setting. We’ve visited this establishment on numerous occasions, however we’ve noticed on our last few visits, the quality of service has suffered a steady decline.
As stated previously, we visited on Thursday to take advantage of the 3pm – close happy hours specials. As we entered the establishment, we were greeted by a waitress who showed to our table on the restaurant side.
Five minutes passed and a young man named Brenden approach our table to take our orders. Looking off and not attempting any eye contact he threw down the eating utensils. He then asked with a somber voice, “what are you having”? Mind you, he was still looking around not making eye contact as if he would rather be anywhere else but serving us. What a way to make customers feel welcomed.
Knowing some of the Thursday night specials, I asked him specifically of the details. He instantly replied we “we don’t offer the specials in the dining area, its only in the bar area”. We then gathered our own menus and proceed to the bar area. As you may have guessed ,Brenden, did not attempted to carry our menus nor did he offer to show us to bar area.
We seated ourselves and a few minutes passed and the bartender by the name of Matthew approached our table. Even though his customer service was slightly better than that of Brenden’s, his approach left us with the “no one knows your name, no knows glad you came” type of feeling.
Figuring that this must get better cause it can’t get any worse, I asked for the details of the Thursday special. Looking unsure he replied , “oh I think they are doing away with that”. I replied are you sure because it clearly states on the Chili’s website that there is a special today? He then replied yes but it is limited now.
After reading over their website, it clearly states certain appetizers and drinks were included. When Matthew explain “their” specials, no appetizers were include and only two beer types were included. This was immensely different from what was stated on the site.
After piecing together the options we were regulated too, we placed our order. As we waited, we noticed Brenden waiting on another couple in the bar. Strangely his manners towards this couple was a drastic improvement from what we received earlier. He was making eye contact, smiling and quite chipper compared to the service we received. Also each person that brought our food displayed the same somber attitude towards us.
Confused we wondered why would we received a difference in serviced compared to other patrons?
Sadly, substandard service has turned into the norm whenever we visit this establishment.
I can only wonder if this Chili’s is investing enough into customer service training so that their employees can display premium impartial service to each and every patron that walk through their doors.
Due to the level of service, I felt the actual food was not good enough to warrant a review...
Read moreIt's been years since I've been to any Chili's. It was one of my favorite chains for a decent and well priced steak.
My waitress was very nice and did her very best. I even spoke with the manager who offered to personally cook my food for me when I returned my plate with only a couple of bites of my meal. But personally if I have to return my food I don't request anything more. I don't like the idea of someone preparing my food if they are at all upset with me retuning it.
So, let's start at the beginning. We started with drinks. I requested a red wine. Unfortunately, my waitress had to come back to the table twice to tell me that they didn't have what I requested, which also included my boyfriend's request for a Bourbon that was on their menu. So I settled for a beer and my boyfriend ordered a different type of Bourbon in his Old Fashioned that he was not able to finish because it was not well made.
I ordered a 6 ounce sirloin with grilled asparagus and loaded potatoes. I tried to take two bites of the steak but couldn't chew the meat. It was cooked to my liking, but the meat was too tough to chew. I tried two bites, but I had to spit out both bits. I hate to waste food, especially meat, but there was no way to chew it. It also lacked any true seasoning. Also, the mashed potatoes seemed to have been sitting in a warmer for a very long time. My boyfriend had no complaints with his meal. So I spent the rest of my meal picking on his french fries after sending my meal back.
I realize Chili's is not a steakhouse, but quality meat from a chain restaurant is a must. Having a great bar manager is also key. They make great profits from their bar drinks, so having your basics in stock is a must. Also, having a bartender who knows how to make basic drinks is key.
Leaving half finished liquor drinks and full plates does not bring your customers back. The only saving grace was their customer service....
Read moreI just worked a 16 hr shift and met up with my son witch is 18 and his friends he works with out at Chevron Phillips. I was hoping toget some good for and enjoy a drink after a long 2 days of work. Well my waitress could not get what I wanted due to I left my license at home ( witch is fine, I look young) I show her a a paper of it and even a picture and that wouldn't do. So I left to go home 15 miles away just so I could enjoy dinner with my family, when I came back my son and every one was done eating so no biggy I go sit at the bar and continue to order my meal and drink. As soon as I sat down my old waitress called the bartender ( trying to insinuate something) the bartender finishes making what I ordered first then I presented my license because I already knew what it was about. She took a quick glance then headed in the back. If I have everything I need and went to extra lengths just to get it worked a 16 hr shift I'm 36 years old and I have my license then why is that adolescent waitress interfering with me eating and prolonging it. If it don't concern you then don't include yourself there is a reason I went to another person to order and give a tip. The only reason why I was extremely bothered is the other people that where ordering drinks never got asked to present a id and maybe the same age as me or a lil older than me. yes . I look young and I swear of that but if you are going to do it to one person do it to all don't blame it on TABC ITS CLEARLY JUST A PERSONAL JUDGEMENT AT THIS POINT, and even so if I leave and go out of my way to get my credentials and go, go to a bartender don't call her to the back to discuss me. It's clearly poor judgemen t and...
