Munchies is a local favorite that I was not aware of until I met my wife. The atmosphere here is decent. The salsa is served in metal canisters with a mild and spicy option, and chips are always thin and crispy. The service was great during this visit. They even brought my two year old animal cookies, which was a big hit. The food here reminds me of the older tex mex restaurants that have faded away in recent years. They add their own twist to common dishes, and it doesn't disappoint. Seating can be an issue as it is a smaller establishment. Prices are lower than average, and serving size is generous.

This restaurant has been a go to Tex Mex for my family for years. Even after I moved out on my own when I'd visit family this is always the place to go. It's changed over the years especially the decor and atmosphere but the food remains just as good as it always has. You're given a hot and mild salsa when you first arrive and their queso has an very slight onions taste that just makes it delicious. I pretty much stick to the enchiladas and instead of gravy have queso over them which is absolutely amazing. You have to check it out for yourself. Nice family owned business.

Fajitas were good and so was the service. The salsa is mediocre store bought and the rest of the food was questionable but edible. With a few tweaks we had some good fajita tacos in the end.

Came to Munchies for dinner with our big family. We haven't been here in over 20 years!!! We used to live in the area north of Silsbee and this was our go to for good Mexican food. I must say that the food is still very good and maybe even better than it was back then!!! The Queso was really great! The chips are still really fresh and crispy, and now they serve two heat levels of salsa!!! The one on the metal cup with the plain lid is very mild, even my 7 year old loved it!! The one in the metal cup with the little chimney on the lid is the"HOT" salsa, and I loved it. A few at our table mixed the two to their level! I had the Munchies Ole' dinner with a crispy beef taco, bean tostada, and a tostada chip with queso, and also a small dollup of Guacamole. This was followed by a hot plate of two cheese enchiladas, a tamale, sand beans and rice! My wife has the bowl of the Flameado with beef fajita meat in it served with three flour tortillas. We also had sweet tea to go with our meals. Our 7 year old had the Chicken Rings with French fries. He was very happy with what he had. Our waitress was on top of her hand and I wish I would have got her name. She was very prompt at taking our drink orders and getting us menus! She came right back with our drinks and asked if we wanted appetizers. My sweet mother in law ordered 3 large bowls of Queso for our dinner party of 11 I believe it was!!! She came right back with the chips and salsas and then brought out the Queso!!! She then took our food order and it wasn't long before my cold plate came out with my tacos! I asked if she could substitute a taco in place of the bean tostada and she said it wasn't no problem! Happy me! I love tacos!!! She came back frequently with refills on tea and other drinks as well as bringing fresh chips!!! All in all we all had a great time and enjoyed our meals and the friendliness of our great waitress! The Urbina's who own it have also remodeled the inside very tastefully with aquariums and really nice pictures they have taken themselves! It was a very nice visit, and again...

The lady at the front counter refused to give me a receipt. I placed my order and drove to the drive thru. Arrived 7 min from when I placed the call. The lady up front gave me my total and I paid cash. She then got a huge attitude. She did not give me a receipt and told me to drive around my order wasn't ready. BTW it was just chips. I looked at her and she snapped at me to drive around. I was waiting for a receipt... since I was leaving the window with no food and just paid $37. I was informed by her that she will not give a receipt unless someone asks for one and since I didn't say it she didn't have to give me one. I explained that she had me leave the window after I paid cash and did not have food or a receipt showing I had paid. She continued to argue and said she doesn't have to. I told her I was going to let the owner know and she said do it. So here I am.

BTW the guy that took the order was great and the waitstaff usually rocks it. Maybe it was an off day for her but I will be avoiding her like the plague if I go back to...

The food here definitely wasn't to my taste. Seemed rushed together and more for the sensitive pallet of older generations. Uninspired mush from a can is all I can really say about the food. But I kind of expected this from a "Mexican" restaurant with chicken tenders on the menu. The service was fantastic though. I don't remember our waitresses name but she did amazing. Gave us time to go through the menu and kept an eye on our drinks. Overall pleasant person to have watch over us. What I do know is that George was being bullied in the back, felt bad for the kid. Not sure if this is the dynamic set up between coworkers, but he did not seem entertained and was more confused. Regardless, though the service was great, I don't think I will ever be returning here. Mostly to save my gut and taste buds from another...
