The place is cute on the outside, and on the inside frankly. The views are gorgeoua of the lake and the bathrooms in the hallway of the lodge were clean. My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not very busy, not unexpected. He'd been wanting to try it since the companynput up the billboard on northbound 35W. There were 5 different staff gathered around complaining about being at work. They didn't want to be there, their feet hurt, they are so over this place, is so and so quitting too? There was also a manager appearing man who didn't seem to care about it. The server who decided to make our drinks complained about making one of their signature drinks, a blueberry gin smash, which was supposed to be blueberry lime in flavor. My husband ordered an odyssey old fashioned. I sent back the bbs because it was clearly made with lemon insread of lime, and I didn't want lemonade-it gives me heartburn much of the time. Hubby's oof had so much maple syrup it was difficult to taste anything else. The food: My husband ordered the special burger of the month with fries for $18. I ordered the turkey sandwich and soup for $21. The burger had more shredded lettuce than burger--honestly couldn't see the burger through the bun on one side and it wasnt because it overhung the other side. The fries were dry and tasted like the grease in the fryer hadn't been changed in some time. My turkey sandwich held cheap deli turkey-the kind that is pressed and slippery- and didn't stick together well. The bread was a good cranberry wild rice loaf. The soup (tomato basil with roasted red pepper) was cold and had no basil influence that either my husband or I could detect. We skipped dessert because, well the rest was not great and the staff were very disinterested in providing an enjoyable experience to their customers. We are not afraid to spend money if we go out. These are Twin Cities prices for absolutely not Twin Cities quality. The place is cute. I'd consider staying there for a weekend, but I won't be eating at Lake Superior Burger Co again. Sad because it has...
Read more9 minutes I’m reluctantly sharing our experience with hope that it’ll help the restaurant make improvements (I’ve only posted positive reviews historically, but I see we are not the first to have this experience recently). More than 30mins after being seated no server had attended our table so we politely advised the hostess we were ready to order. We waited an hour before our drinks arrived. An hour after placing our food order we were advised that the meals two people in our party ordered were not available, by that time it was too late to order alternate meals for them. While we waited we appreciated a beautiful view however we were blasted with cold air from an overhead vent & a door to the outside next to us that could not be closed securely. We all had to keep our coats on & even then we were cold. The food that three in our party of five did eventually receive was good, but the enjoyment of the food was lost on the experience - we all remained hungry because we had to share the food we did get between five people (one of the meals being kids menu chicken tenders which was not shared because young growing people need to eat). It was notable that we never saw a manager on the floor lending support to our server who was clearly overwhelmed with work. The table next to us actually left because they were waiting so long. We didn’t ask for any discount, comp item or coupon, however the experience was so bad, it was comical & it certainly warranted a consideration...
Read moreBeautiful views and the food was pretty good. But our service was really lacking. We were sat with menus by a host and then our server didn't approach us for at least 15 minutes. We ordered food and drinks, he didn't write our order down. Food came out after 20 minutes which was good, but then mine was wrong and had to be remade, the next one was missing sauce I asked for but it wasn't worth asking again. We didn't get our drinks until 10+minutes into eating our meal after I asked for them multiple times. We had a 2 year old with us and I had to find a different server to get us a chair for him because ours was never around. He didn't put the lid all the way on the milk for our son and handed it to him, it immediately spilled everywhere. He handed me napkins to clean it up. If you wanted your drinks, ketchup, napkins, salt or pepper you had to wait 15 minutes to see your server to ask for them or go find them yourself The staff were all nice and you could tell they were trying but they seemed overwhelmed, even though there were only like 8 tables between 3 of them. Expensive prices for a pretty view and not...
