The Butter Churn in Sinton is a country style buffet restaurant. We ate there on March 27 2019, my wife, her parents and me. Among the entrees were liver and onions, beef brisket, salisbury steak, chicken fried steak and fried chicken breast. The liver was dry and leathery, the brisket was burnt on top but other wise ok, the Salisbury steak was tough, and the chicken fried steak was likewise tough. The fried Chicken was pretty good. some of the veggies served included baby carrots, green beans, mashed potatoes spinach and squash. The veggies were all pretty good as were the gravies. The salad bar had nice fresh green lettuce, and plenty of trimmings and dressings. The puddings on the desert bar were pretty good as were the soup selections. The bread rolls were heavy and dry. I didn't try any of the cobblers but they looked good. Overall the food was pretty good tasting and fresh. The service was ok as our server kept our glasses topped off and the table clear of used plates and did so with a pleasant demeanor. I have eaten at the Butter Churn several times and the food is always ok if not somewhat forgettable. Some items are better than others but nothing is really all that bad or really all that great. The service has ranged from pleasant and helpful to servers muttering curse words openly and loudly. For the price it isn't too bad but I wouldn't go out of my way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to pick up to go plates to feed 2. It was my birthday and I wanted fried catfish. Between the 2 plates, I got catfish, ribs, hush puppies, pea salad, cornbread, macaroni salad, and pudding. The fish was AWFUL ! It was ends and pieces, not in the signature coating. The ribs had no taste. Mac and cheese, no taste. It had been dry because one of the staff was pouring milk in it and stirring it up. Pea salad tasted like straight vinegar and inedible. Found an eyelash (not a fake one) in a piece of cornbread. Upon observation, all the vegetables were awful. The green beans were wrinkly, the carrots were greasy, the Brussel Sprouts were 2 different colors. No fried chicken, instead frozen chicken nuggets. Potatoes smothered in artificial bacon pieces. Meatloaf covered in hard tomato sauce. We tried a few bites of what I brought home and we were DONE ! I put it all in the fridge to give to the stray dog I've been feeding. Left him fish, ribs, macaroni and cornbread before I went to sleep. It was still there this morning, untouched, except for the...

The plates were sooooo dirty on the back side. Like you could physically scrape crust and chunks of food off and they're stacked. It was ridiculous. The waitress was not kind in any manner. Not hospitable at all. The fried chicken was dry and chewy. There was some type of Mexican meatloaf layered with refried beans and I about hit the restroom after one bite. Alfredo was mushy and had no flavor. Spaghetti and meatballs were inedible. Mashed potatoes and white gravy were basic but ok. The ranch dressing was decent. I'm struggling to find the positive here. Basically a buffet nightmare. I could never return; not even if it was a $5 buffet. It's wasn't sanitary and almost everything was very gross. I left hungry. The prices do not reflect...
