Went here a couple of times over the weekend. My thoughts:
Pros: Cold beers at non-exorbitant prices, cool atmosphere, and it was the only place open on Sunday afternoon
Cons: 1) Being the only place open on Sunday afternoon and being a fryer-orientated food operation, their fryer was slammed (?) and it took multiple beers to get my order of fish and wangs
Operationality, it seemed like they were cooking to order instead of frying multiple orders at once. There didn't seem to be a lot of tickets. Granted, there were only two people working, a bartender and fryer/multitasker. I'm pretty sure I spent over two hours waiting for my food on Sunday. Saturday, it didn't take too long to get my sandwich, but that was around 9pm.
Food thoughts: The jojos and tartar sauce are indeed good. The fish was a white fish (tilapia I'm guessing) in a thicker shell that was new to me. As delivered, they are poofy with a good amount of air between the fish and batter.
Better than my local fish and chips by far, despite being Tilapia most likely.
Chicken: I ordered the 5-piece buffalo wings for $8. I got 4 drums and a flat, so actually 2.5 whole wings for $8. They were fine, celery was weak, a pretty bad value by the numbers. However, if you want wings and are in Skykomish, it's may be the best thing ever.
Chicken sandwich: I believe I enjoyed this sandwich. However, it was cooked in the way where it had a stringy rind. I'd done this myself when cooking chicken.
9/5 UPDATE
Man the jojo potatoes are tasty. They are pressure-cooked to an consistent creamy texture, with an extra crispy skin. Best part is, they reheat amazingly in the air fryer.
I tried the oysters and they were a thing. I'm not sure what the best value play is at the moment but the jojos are fantastic, side sauces good, beer cold.
Look forward to coming back! Gets...
Read moreWe visited this spot together with my family during my recent trip to the United States. I’m 36 years old but the lady at the counter said she wanted to verify my ID for beer. Fair enough. Then she questioned why my citizenship card doesn’t have an expiry date? At least she should know citizenship ID’s don’t have expiry date in many countries or just verified my D.O.B and returned my ID without unnecessary questioning. Next my brother is 34. She wanted to verify his ID. When he replied I’m just having popcorn not drinking, she asked us to leave. So my brother had to verify his ID and D.O.B just to eat some popcorn. Ha ha. Overall this was the most unwelcoming spot for us in the whole of US. However, their beer was awesome. Like how we say in...
Read moreGreat food, great atmosphere!! Before we even got our food, the aroma from the kitchen let us know we were in for a treat. My fish n chips were good, but my brother and mom got the fried chicken, OMG!!!! It's a half a chicken and neither one of them offered to share even a bite. My mom said it was the best fried chicken she had ever had!! I didn't catch her name, but the hosts/waitress/bartender/cook rocked the hell out of it, and never missed a beat with the ever increasing crowd. I will be back to try that fried chicken for sure!!! And side note, but super important to mention, the bathrooms are super clean and well stocked. Probably the cleanest I've...
