Slate Mill Tavern — Restaurant in Slatington

I have been going here since they reopened. Mike the first cook was GREAT. He is gone but still a customer.... There is no ownership present and if someone is acting manager, they need to actually manage. The food has been going downhill and last nights burger was horrific. The 3 female bartenders are great but they can only do so much. With proper management this place can be a goldmine. Message to the owners: When you put pennies in a piggy bank you know what comes out ? PENNIES! let the bar control the ACs and pay a real cook and manager dollars, so you get out dollars. Stop making due and challenge yourself to do more than open the door. I will still drink here but there is no food here as far as I am concerned. This was my 1st time in since the new ownership. Nice job on the renovations !! The 1st thing we struggled with was the menu. They are black with dark green writing, very difficult to see. We ordered the TKO bread, homage to the Knockout Bread that was served by The Shack. We were very disappointed. Not only was it not close to the old way but it was just pitiful. Minimal amounts of the expected toppings and it was cold in the middle. Will not order it again. The Chipotle chicken bacon ranch sandwich I ordered was.....meh. Very little turkey on it. My friend had the prime rib cheesesteak, he enjoyed it. The mixed greens on it was an odd addition but he couldn't read all that was on it due to the menu colors, old eyes, lol. My husband and I went there on a whim for dinner. The food was very good! I would recommend the TKO bread and the Cubano sandwich. Both were awesome! Service was a bit slow though. When we got there, we sat for over 5 minutes just waiting for someone to take a drink order or even bring us a menu. Kitchen was a bit slow getting food out also.
