Oh yeah, the other reviews mentioning that they are racist/unfriendly are VERY true lol. 😂
I try not to speak Spanish at taquerias in general because of how ridiculously often non-Black Latinos like to “test” Afro-Latinos upon finding out we too can speak Spanish. But the lady running the register— who greeted me with the TIGHTEST lipped smile when I came in— asked me if I wanted cilantro in Spanish, & I responded by default in Spanish…. Big mistake! After that she made it a point to only speak very fast & very quietly, which had me leaning in & asking her to repeat herself with each question. It felt like she was trying to make a point to intentionally embarrass me, especially because she began smirking the rest of the time. Like tía quieres demostrar que no te entiendo pero en realidad NO PUEDO OÍRTE. 😂
But that’s not all! A non-Black Latino family came in about 10 minutes after me, & I watched this same woman’s entire demeanor change. She was much friendlier, spoke in a normal tone at a normal pace, & she even walked their drinks out to them at their table
Read moreThe lengua (tongue) tacos were good, the pastor taco wasn’t bad - but not the best..tastes like the marinated meat you can buy at a carnicería, the asada tacos were the biggest disappointment- absolutely bland. The horchatas we got were a decent size but there was no hole for the straw since it was served in a to-go soup container and it was extremely watered down, for $4 it was definitely not worth it. The one thing I did absolutely love was the salsa - the green salsa (it’s not actually green but it’s not the red salsa) it was delicious and actually tasted authentic. The red salsa wasn’t too great it lacked in flavor maybe some salt would’ve fixed it but we loved the other one we didn’t care to try and fix the red one… We paid $3 per taco (the lengua ones were $3.50) served with two corn tortillas, cilantro and onion, lime and 3 salsa for 6 tacos - they were a decent size and had a good amount of meat just really wish they had...
Read moreTrust and believe that when this place says Taqueria Authentic, they are not just referring to tacos. Thus far, I've had their tacos (steal and chicken), burritos (steak and chicken), sopes, tortas, and tres leches cake; please believe when I say that this place delivers some very satisfying Mexican cuisine. It's so satisfying that I was starting to place orders every weekend because I kept imagining those flavors throughout the week. I had to slow down because while my taste buds love it, my shower metabolism can't justify eating like this regularly. Either way, the food is wonderful. The service is always great; they definitely appreciated their patrons. You can eat there if you like, but it's a smaller shop, mainly designed for you to pick up and depart. If you're looking for some good Mexican cuisine, please look no further. They will not...
