I am a BBQ professional. I have trained many pit bosses in competition style BBQ for BBQ restaurants. I saw the reviews and had high hopes. Was very disappointed. First, the kids selection is severely lacking options. Not a place to take my 4 kids. A BBQ joint should have a ribs kids plate too so as not to make my it so I have to order a $17 plate for my 7 year old. Instead, they had 3 choices. Mac N' Cheese, their version of chicken tenders, and a pulled pork sandwich. Was expecting more in a town were the vast majority of the population are children. But I was still expecting great food from the smell of the place. When my appetizer arrived (pork belly burnt ends), they were good! Some of them were a bit crunchy, but with burnt ends, you can expect that. Sure my kids didn't like them that much, but I sure did! One of my kids ordered the 8oz steak, medium rare, with fries and onion rings. Steak was cook how it should have been, and it was good! But that is where it stopped for the meat. I ordered the brisket and rib plate with the cowboy beans. The ribs and brisket were both over cooked. Quality smoked ribs should NOT fall off the bone, no matter how brainwashed the general public is that they should. But these ribs, you touched the bone and it fell out. The brisket was also over done. The connective tissue should still have enough hold that when you pull on the ends of the meat, it separates to look like honeycomb, not fall apart. To cook it beyond that causes it to dry out. Which is why they must serve it with BBQ already on it. Good BBQ should not require sauce to be served with it, but only be requested if the individual has a preferred taste. Two of my kids ordered the rib plate. Same thing with the ribs. My kids, who usually never complain about meat, both said their ribs were dry. As far as sides go, my beans were not what I was expecting, but were good. I was expecting more baked bean style vs red bean and rice style (was served without rice, which the rice would have improved the side), but they were good all the same. One child ordered onion rings with their ribs, the other ordered fries. All the sides were good. Last child ordered the Mac and cheese kids meal with fries. She said it was good. All the portions were also smaller than I was expecting.
Last, the check. First, the price on the check did not reflect the price of the steak my child ordered. They charged $2 more than what the menu showed. Next, any side other than fries had an upcharge in addition to the menu price. That was not mentioned during ordering, and it was not clearly visible (if it is mentioned at all) on the menu. And last, the check has a 3% fee automatically added to the check for credit card processing. I'm sorry, but that is the cost of doing business, and should not be passed onto the customer, especially when you are already charging so much for the portions you serve. Having worked at BBQ restaurants, and following the market currently, I know when the pricing of meats are at, and I know what a fair price should be for the quantity received. All in all, I paid well over $150 to feed one adult and 4 kids. I will never return there, and will not...
Read moreThe hubbs and I went out for a lunch date as our kids are with grandma and wanted to try something different. We've bought meat from the smokehouse in the past(great quality) but haven't been to the bar and grill since it opened about 3 months ago. We tried it!! The atmosphere is a bit plain and subtle but relaxing and welcoming. We sat in the bar and got waited on quite quickly but didn't feel rushed. It took us AWHILE to choose because everything looks and sounds SO yummy! We decided we would share the all American smash burger(we added bacon and green chile) and hot wings. The presentation of the food is beautiful 😋 the burger literally melted in your mouth and the wings are very meaty. Our only complaint is the wings were not hot whatsoever but then again the two of us are fans of "way 🔥 " We loved our server as she checked on us just enough and not too much. As we were getting our check, our waitress said we get a 15% discount for dining in today!! BONUS lol Anywho, a bit pricey but what isn't any more. DEFINITLEY worth stopping in if traveling through or just looking for a new hot spot. I'm just happy it's down the road 😝 They offer pulled pork, brisket, chicken, salads, steak and appetizers. We...
Read moreThe food is excellent perfect portion size the atmosphere is really loud though all of the televisions are playing the same sporting event instead of different ones but with the flat walls and the tile flooring every conversation is just echoing like it's in a cave. I wouldn't say it's very child friendly restaurant but it is a very busy restaurant and from what I've seen from looking over the menu personally they really don't have a lot of vegetarian options all of the meat they get is from their butcher shop obviously the loaded potato bacon and green chili is a very interesting type of casserole it's very good if you're a mashed potato fan it doesn't taste really heavy bacon flavor or green chili very mellow in the beginning the french fries were still raw in the middle couldn't cook them enough but now they're so overly deep-fried they just were unsatisfactory to me the macaroni and cheese bites however were absolutely delicate I would recommend those as a side with any dish that you order I also ordered desserts the banana bread cheesecake was rather stale good stale I heartily recommend the caramel bundt cake...
