Perched atop the majestic Sam's lift in Snowmass Mountain, Sam's Knob isn't just a restaurant—it's a culinary adventure worth strapping on those ski boots for. As seasoned visitors, my crew and I make this ascent a mandatory pit stop every time we hit the slopes, and boy, does it never disappoint.

We embarked on our latest culinary journey with gusto, diving into an array of tantalizing dishes that left us swooning. The pesto prosciutto pizza was a slice of heaven, marrying fresh flavors with the perfect crispy crust. The chicken liver pate was a decadent delight, spreading smoothly over toasted bread like butter on a warm ski slope. And who could forget the chilled tiger shrimp diavolo, packing a spicy punch that warmed us from the inside out.

But the surprises didn't stop there. The lamb burger was a juicy revelation, each bite bursting with savory goodness. I ordered the Linguine and Clam sauce. Sam's is supposed to be an Italian focused restaurant. This dish was possibly the worst thing I have ever been served. Mushy pasta. Couldn't really taste garlic, clams or wine in the sauce. It was very watery. There were steamed little neck clams on the top. They were ok. If they were overcooked that would have been a total fail. Someone in the kitchen messed up. The idea of peppers in the sauce was a good idea, but unfortunately, was the only real flavor to the sauce. That made it even more strange.

The other meals at the table were ok. The steak was the best item. I tried a bit of it. Very good. Brussel Sprouts were good too. The rest of the meals were mediocre. Mine was at the bottom of the group. I would have mentioned that I didn't like my pasta to the server, but she never checked back. I'm not recommending this place to others. If you’re planning to visit, it’s highly advisable to make a reservation in advance due to its popularity. Once you’re seated, be prepared to spend at least an hour enjoying your meal, as the service is more leisurely.

The food is excellent, and be sure to try the appetizers. Our server, Nicolas, was outstanding, and all of our dishes arrived promptly.
