Cumberland Grill House — Restaurant in Somerset

Took my family there and it was a pretty bad experience. My wife and I are 25 percent plus tippers and takes alot for us to write a review or do anything negative. We got there at 8:10 p.m not knowing they close at 9 p.m. Hostess was nice and greeted well. Right from the beginning we were unwelcomed by our waitress. Her attitude was abundantly clear. She was standoffish and bad attitude. We ordered and salads came but no dinner rolls came. I observed a waitress take dinner rolls to another table with their salads after us. Our food came and I asked waitress if we could have dinner rolls and she said "I'll have to check to see if we have anymore since we are about to close at 9". Again this is after other tables received dinner rolls after us. Multiple times she reminded us they were closing soon. My kids were thanking her along with my wife cause we actually have manners unlike most these days and she just blew them off with attitude. She was just very ignorant and had an attitude. She reminded us a couple of times they close at 9 and this was before 9 and other tables were there. Then my wife asked for peanut butter pie that she was going to ask to go and not eat there. She gave attitude and said they didn't have any. I dont beleive that for a minute. She just thought we were gonna eat it there. The steak isn't nothing to write home about either as we have had much better steaks. So when you put everything together it was terrible experience. Unwelcomed from the start with waitress and cold shoulder. She must be from up north where we are cause I thought Kentucky was better with attitudes as it spoiled our evening. She missed out on a 25 percent plus tip had she just smiled a little and not had an attitude. It wouldn't have even matter had food been complete garbage she still would have gotten 25 plus tip. So as much as it aches us we left less cause this world needs to start having consequences for its actions again. We won't be back as I care to not step foot in that place with attitudes...

Save your money folks. This place is simply not good at all. After a couple of attempts of trying this place, it fails on every level. Last night 4 of us dined here, not my choice. 3 of the 4 had issues with the food. Each steak was to be cooked medium, however each was VERY WELL DONE. The others meals were room temperature at best. None of us complained. However, the manager did approach our table and ask about our meals. We politely told him the issues with our steaks, he agreed that they were all very well done and he would have talk with the kitchen..... and that was IT. No apologies, no stepping up to the plate to make things right. No attempt at anything. Just substandard accross the board folks.

Update 10/25/25 Some friends of our wanted to meet us out for dinner and drinks to catch up and they suggested this place. I thought to myself, oh boy, but also thought, let's give it another try. Ill start with the good. It was extremely busy and we were seated rather quickly. We sat in the bar area and our server and bartender was very attentive. The salad bar was good but had taken a hit from the busy evening. Now, the bad. I ordered the special, the butter squash ravioli. The pasta was cooked aladente and the flaver of the infused butter squash was tasty, however, for some reason, the chef decided to use as a sauce, pure bacon grease. The grease saturated the ravioli like a sauce would have, so much so, the the bottom of the bowl had standing bacon grease. Just couldn't do it in fear of contracting coronary artery disease on the spot. Not sure why this course wouod be chosen over a lighter, much more...

B4 the ownership changes it was fantastic! In actuality the first time after the change was okay however, since then the service, food and overall management has gone downhill. I'm sure it isnt all bad and there are good folks that work there however, that doesn't even compare to the way it was when it was Guthries! They have changed the menu items but need to focus on service, food, and proper management. Sorry to say I would have actually given it a half star if possible and I hate that becuz it has been a "go to" in the past. This review isnt after only one bad incident...it comes after several tries to see if they get it right and have not as of yet. I hope for changes to be made and "Make It...
