Had dinner with friends here. Nice little restaurant, 5 tables inside. Capable of serving 16 inside, maybe another 10-16 outside. Small simple menu, did not have everything on menu available this evening. Appetizer not bad, presentation of food okay. I don’t like people in my personal space and the two men serving were consistently too close for comfort. One gentleman took the time to describe the cheese appetizer player, but put his hands on or uncomfortably close to the food while describing it. I had the beef tenderloin dish, meat was cut weird, most likely because it was a sirloin steak, not tenderloin. Very tough, mine had gristle on it. Despite being cooked just under medium rare, it was difficult to cut and hard to chew, the texture and flavor of the meat was just wrong, no way this was a tenderloin cut of beef. A medium rare cooked tenderloin is very tender, easy to cut even with a butter knife and very easy to chew. Vegetables very colorful, nice presentation, not steamed long enough, no seasoning except for a huge amount of old freshly ground pepper that had no flavor. Twice baked smashed potato was delicious though. Very slow meal preparation almost an hour to be served main dish, appetizer only took 41 minutes to be served. I was not impressed with the e majority of my experience here. I saw part of a pie on the counter, but was not offered dessert after the server removed our plate. Our plates for both the appetizer and main dish were just taken from us, the server didn’t ask if we were finished or if we wanted to package the remaining food. Prices not horrible, if they actually served the cuts of meat they have on the menu. Not my cup of tea, I don’t see myself returning to this establishment as a personal choice in the future.

Small Town Ohio Gem We’ve been here a few times for lunch and dinner and always find something delicious to try. The menu is not extensive but every choice is noteworthy. Very reminiscent of European dining with relaxed pace and meals that feel truly made to order. Savory, perfectly seasoned, healthy portions and do not forget dessert. The house-made pie selection is outstanding and can be enjoyed with a creamy cappuccino. Open for lunch and dinner with patio seating and a well-composed wine list with genuinely hospitable service. Almost hesitate to let the cat out of the bag on this place - it’s like a secret treasure!

Absolute Gem in Somerset, my favorite place to eat lunch. They use extremely high quality ingredients, and are very friendly and personable. You can tell by presentation alone how much passion is put into the food by the presentation itself. I highly recommend the chicken baguette with the lemon garlic aioli, the mushroom soup, or the chicken southwest salad or the spinach and berries salad. I added a few pics of some food from there too.

The day after my daughter and I returned from Europe, we were sad our trip was over and looking for something to keep the European experience going for another day. I had heard about the Épicerie from a friend. He told me there was a great little French-style restaurant in Somerset that we needed to try. So, we decided to give it a try that day after getting home from Europe. Wow! We were all so impressed. I took my wife and 2 daughters, ages 8 and 17, and we all loved it. This is a quaint place, reminiscent of a European cafe. The staff is very warm, attentive and conversational. Also, you are not rushed which is refreshing. The food is incredible. We all had different dishes and all were excellent. The appetizers, coffees, and wines were all fantastic and complimented the food well. If you’re looking for a little taste of France, Italy, Spain, Belgium- or just Europe in general- right here in rural Ohio, this is your place. We had to drive 30+ minutes to get here from North Newark, but it was worth it and we will...

-0 stars if possible... Beware of this place... the guy that works there is a pathological liar and has some issues, clothes were dirty and says he's a manager but he's a waiter and extremely bizarre. They serve pie thats been sitting for what looks and tastes like a week old, the girl in the kitchen is extremely rude and lies as well. Found out from a friend that they take reservations but disregard it if others come in.. they drove a long way after calling in to say they'll be there soon, they were told, "sorry its full, nothing we can do" just very bizarre is all I can say. I feel bad for whoever owns this place, they either have no idea what is going on or they just don't care. Spare yourself, they are very...
