Macri's was one of my favorite lunch spots while I was working downtown South Bend. Due to relocating to a new office, I don't eat there as much as I used to; however, I still stop in every once in a while, on my way home. Over the last 10 years, I've had a pleasant experience and was always greeted with a smile by the owner when he's there. When I'm picking up food on my way home, I call my order in and ask that they wait 15 minutes before starting due to working in Mishawaka. Today I called with the same request. I get there and my mozzarella sticks were already sitting there waiting to be picked up. I checked them to see if they were hot. They weren't. I informed the young lady my food isn't hot. She turns to the workers and says can you remake these. She didn't want her food to be ready when she got here. I said no, I want my food hot. I pay for my order and wait for them to be re-made. The young lady comes back and the owner, whom I always found to be pleasant (and I was smiling at him thinking I was going to have another pleasant exchange with him as usual), was in front of her. He gave me a nasty look. The young lady says next time wait until you get here to order. I said I asked that they wait 15 minutes to start the order. Before I could finish my sentence, the owner starts yelling at me wait until you get here to order, pointing down on the counter with force with his finger as he's speaking to me. I was taken back. I said you have never been mean to me. He says, I am today. The young lady said, I told him what happened. I responded maybe you shouldn't offer call ins if you cannot fulfill the orders properly. She attempted to go back and forth with me. I told her to have a good day, and I left. My feelings were hurt. I have patronized this business for years. When Dainty Maids closed, I started ordering my anniversary cakes from here. Needless to say, I will not return. The treatment I received today was rude and disrespectful...
Read moreThis is soley based on the service. The food is always and has been a 10 in my book.
I went in yesterday morning just to beat the crowd for packzis to order some which I did- I was not greeted with a smile more of an annoyed glance and what do you want. It was about 7:30-7:40 am.I picked out 5 and found out I need an order of 6 for preorder- she was even more annoyed with me. Nothing friendly at all. Was told can’t fulfill order until that time frame and almost maybe like flavors may not be available then. I chose my time and paid got my receipt- no thank you. It’s early still so I get being tired, I used to work late nights and early mornings for edible arrangements and it was hard work I get it but we’d put our friendlier and chipper gals and guys up front.
After fulfilling my order and paying I came back to later to pick it up after 11 am and the man behind the counter said he couldn’t hear me to speak up, I can’t you see-I’ve recently had throat surgery due to thyroid cancer and I can’t speak at a normal level. I told the man behind the counter and the guy behind the counter wasn’t funny- when he said I guess I’ll have to do this and cupped his ear. I was mortified and so embarrassed.
I always order my create your pasta online or at cashier- I asked since I was picking up to order he told me they don’t do that- I only had cash or I would had ordered online or at the kiosks. No sorry, nothing. No thank you for your order, have a good day.
I know it’s busy, especially with packzi season, but today I realized maybe my money should be spent elsewhere. I was mortified and embarrassed today and maybe the guy behind the counter didn’t realize that but I did.
Service is lacking customer service. Maybe I’m too sensitive but I felt off today and I have been a customer...
Read moreUpdated review. After visiting Macri's a couple years later from when I posted my 1st review I have changed my mind about their panini's are great! I like the balsmic mayo they put on it and avocados. Feels fresh and light for a summer lunch. My favorite is the San Francisco Pannini. And I am so delighted you can order online now and do curbside pick up! Awesome during these uncertain times. I have had their pizza and alfredo and it was good. I haven't tried their baked goods in a while but once I do I will update my review on the bakery items.
Update 8-7-2020 Tried an assortment of bakery items. And I feel the same . Over priced and not the greatest. I’d go elsewhere for baked items.
Also tip for the owners , some type of signs or ticket system for checking or being helped would be nice . Went there and approached a cash register and no one assisted me or directed me that I should go to a different check out area. Not even the employees in the front.
After going to the correct check out area they just asks whose next and some other customer who didn’t look like she was in line says she’s next. . . A ticket number system would help clear up these type of mixups. Not the most check out friendly area.
Original Review
Fettuccine Alfredo is good. Panini's are a bit bland but okay. Pizza is good. A bit pricey but okay. Baked goods aren't all that. Not...
