The things I could say about this place is endlessly positive. I can't say I've ever been to a place where the lady taking care of us was so awesome it was truly a life changing experience between the service and the baked goods. We traveled up to the area for vacation and searched for the best donuts in the area and they did not disappoint. Not a ton of donuts were left but we were able to try a maple glazed, some cannolis, a couple chocolate peanut brittle things, an eclair, fudge cake piece, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, and Boston creme donut. It lasted us a couple days of breakfast but my goodness, they are great. We got some coffee as well since they do their own and a lot of places are kind of hit or miss but even that was great. Then came the little cookie treats the girl gave us because she wanted us to try them. The almond cookie, danish cookies, sugar cookie, and chocolate drizzle cookie were the best cookies I've ever had bar none. They were so soft and melted in your mouth with a delicate little crunch, 10/10 all day. If you're in the area and you don't stop by, you have no idea what you're missing in life in bakery form.

Edited: They reached out and allowed me to try a fresh set of pazckis, and verified they were filled correctly. And they were everything i remember them being. Soft and delicious. Thank you for your customer service, and hospitality. So I've been a return customer during your pazcki season for years. And I can tell, this year you've cheapened your pazcki's by not filling them as full as your use to. I remember the pastry being very soft, and so full it would come out the sides. This year I bought a dozen. The pastry is not soft it's very dry like adry roll. And they're very poorly filled i can pull it apart and there's almost nothing in it. I bought one of every flavor. Very disappointed. Spent a lot of money on these. Whoever is making these isn't doing good quality control. As you can see this is images of them. This is how all of them look. Even your cream/custard filled. Just to show you, I'm not exaggerating.

Carmela & her team are truly fantastic and we were SO happy to work with them to make the cake for our wedding in August 2022 at Notre Dame. The cake turned out so delicious and also looked gorgeous. It was exactly what I always imagined! Carmela is so wonderful to work with and we loved getting to do a cake tasting with her. We had to delay our wedding by 15 months due to covid, and we did the tasting before we knew we had to move our date. Carmela kept our selections and everything organized during that time which was so helpful since we live out of town and it wouldn't been difficult to do a second tasting. We froze the top of the cake and just tried it on our first anniversary and it was still delicious! We will forever be huge fans of Carmela & Macri's Bakery!!

Macri's was one of my favorite lunch spots while I was working downtown South Bend. Due to relocating to a new office, I don't eat there as much as I used to; however, I still stop in every once in a while, on my way home. Over the last 10 years, I've had a pleasant experience and was always greeted with a smile by the owner when he's there. When I'm picking up food on my way home, I call my order in and ask that they wait 15 minutes before starting due to working in Mishawaka. Today I called with the same request. I get there and my mozzarella sticks were already sitting there waiting to be picked up. I checked them to see if they were hot. They weren't. I informed the young lady my food isn't hot. She turns to the workers and says can you remake these. She didn't want her food to be ready when she got here. I said no, I want my food hot. I pay for my order and wait for them to be re-made. The young lady comes back and the owner, whom I always found to be pleasant (and I was smiling at him thinking I was going to have another pleasant exchange with him as usual), was in front of her. He gave me a nasty look. The young lady says next time wait until you get here to order. I said I asked that they wait 15 minutes to start the order. Before I could finish my sentence, the owner starts yelling at me wait until you get here to order, pointing down on the counter with force with his finger as he's speaking to me. I was taken back. I said you have never been mean to me. He says, I am today. The young lady said, I told him what happened. I responded maybe you shouldn't offer call ins if you cannot fulfill the orders properly. She attempted to go back and forth with me. I told her to have a good day, and I left. My feelings were hurt. I have patronized this business for years. When Dainty Maids closed, I started ordering my anniversary cakes from here. Needless to say, I will not return. The treatment I received today was rude and disrespectful...

This is soley based on the service. The food is always and has been a 10 in my book.

I went in yesterday morning just to beat the crowd for packzis to order some which I did- I was not greeted with a smile more of an annoyed glance and what do you want. It was about 7:30-7:40 am.I picked out 5 and found out I need an order of 6 for preorder- she was even more annoyed with me. Nothing friendly at all. Was told can’t fulfill order until that time frame and almost maybe like flavors may not be available then. I chose my time and paid got my receipt- no thank you. It’s early still so I get being tired, I used to work late nights and early mornings for edible arrangements and it was hard work I get it but we’d put our friendlier and chipper gals and guys up front.

After fulfilling my order and paying I came back to later to pick it up after 11 am and the man behind the counter said he couldn’t hear me to speak up, I can’t you see-I’ve recently had throat surgery due to thyroid cancer and I can’t speak at a normal level. I told the man behind the counter and the guy behind the counter wasn’t funny- when he said I guess I’ll have to do this and cupped his ear. I was mortified and so embarrassed.

I always order my create your pasta online or at cashier- I asked since I was picking up to order he told me they don’t do that- I only had cash or I would had ordered online or at the kiosks. No sorry, nothing. No thank you for your order, have a good day.

I know it’s busy, especially with packzi season, but today I realized maybe my money should be spent elsewhere. I was mortified and embarrassed today and maybe the guy behind the counter didn’t realize that but I did.

Service is lacking customer service. Maybe I’m too sensitive but I felt off today and I have been a customer...

Updated review. After visiting Macri's a couple years later from when I posted my 1st review I have changed my mind about their panini's are great! I like the balsmic mayo they put on it and avocados. Feels fresh and light for a summer lunch. My favorite is the San Francisco Pannini. And I am so delighted you can order online now and do curbside pick up! Awesome during these uncertain times. I have had their pizza and alfredo and it was good. I haven't tried their baked goods in a while but once I do I will update my review on the bakery items.

Update 8-7-2020 Tried an assortment of bakery items. And I feel the same . Over priced and not the greatest. I’d go elsewhere for baked items.

Also tip for the owners , some type of signs or ticket system for checking or being helped would be nice . Went there and approached a cash register and no one assisted me or directed me that I should go to a different check out area. Not even the employees in the front.

After going to the correct check out area they just asks whose next and some other customer who didn’t look like she was in line says she’s next. . . A ticket number system would help clear up these type of mixups. Not the most check out friendly area.

Original Review

Fettuccine Alfredo is good. Panini's are a bit bland but okay. Pizza is good. A bit pricey but okay. Baked goods aren't all that. Not...
