4 days ago on Google We travel quite a bit for work so we’ve learned which hotels to frequent and some that we shouldn’t… as we thought. When I think of staying at a “Marriott” , I would automatically assume it’s going to be a great experience. Our most recent stay at Aloft Marriott South Bend in Indiana was absolutely atrocious. To begin, we had to check out and in a few times due to work being back & forth. The check out time at the hotel is 12PM noon. On two separate occasions we had housekeeping POUNDING on our doors as early as 9:30am. Sometimes they would follow up with the phone ringing… I’ve been in customer service for a very long time.. unprofessional. Our entire hallway of our floor smelled terribly of cigarettes, which i know is hard to pin point but would still like the staff to be aware. We work in construction, which means we have our work trucks and tools ( which are locked in toolboxes in our beds). Wednesday night at some point our boxes were bent, scratched, and attempted to be broken into. Thursday night, both of our trucks were completely vandalized. Fuel cells and pumps were stolen, along with both trucks gas tanks being drilled into and all the gas being stolen out of our vehicles. It cost our company thousands of dollars to get these gas tanks replaced. A police report has been filed. We were parked on the 5th floor of the parking garage. This garage has access gates which require either a hotel key card OR a parking ticket to be provided. On these nights of theft, all the gates were up and wide open to the public… Why is that ? Friday we needed to stay another night due to our vehicle being in the shop per vandalism at this establishment, and we were not offered any type of accommodation other than an “adjusted price”. We work in the area quite a bit and after this stay we have advised crews NOT to stay here strictly due to lack of security and vandalism of commercial vehicles. Unfortunately, this location has lost business. I understand it is not in the best location, yet I strongly recommend management does something about...

Read moreMy stay at Aloft South Bend was on March 5th, 2022. My fiancé and I drove six hours and had previous plans to stay overnight at Aloft South Bend. After arriving, we parked in the parking garage, and went to the first floor to check in. We got to the front desk, and an older man, who’s first name started with C, (we didn’t get his entire name), asked very rudely for our information. My fiancé was the one checking in, she told him her name, and gave him her card. He then proceeded to deny us our stay, because her card didn’t have her name on it. He also told us our stay would be $155, though advertised rooms were $118, AND we had a discount previously applied when booking was supposed to be $67 according to our receipt. He was the complete opposite of a hospitable employee, and did nothing to help us check in. We were pushed to the side after this interaction, and after a 6 hour drive, we had to go back to our vehicle, and try to figure out where or how we would be able to stay anywhere other than our vehicle. Not to mention it was almost midnight at this point in a foreign city to us!! After almost an hour of trying to send money to a card with my fiancés name, we went back to the front desk. We passed the man on our way back down to the first floor, and he had an alcoholic beverage to himself. We were taken a back by the unprofessionalism and lack of care coming from the employees. When we got to the front desk after finally figuring out our card situation, a woman, K. Adams checked us in. She was the only half enjoyable employee, though everyone seemed so unhappy to be at their job! My advice would be to never check into this hotel! We have never had an issue at ANY hotel or Mariott except for this one! We couldn’t wait to check out the next morning and just leave this place! We have never felt more unwelcome as a guest at this hotel! For anyone else’s sake I hope the management teaches their employees how to be hospitable, or they change something, because this experience wasn’t even...
