absolutely the worst service. I liked our server Erick and he was a pleasant person but when management came by our table just to confirm a simple drink order he still screwed it up as well as made the server look bad. on top of that l asked for no onions on my tacos and they came full of diced red onions I couldn't even pick out and I hate sending food back. so it gets better....the "per se mgr" comes to our table with an ear peace in his ear like he's a bouncer or event security which is stupid to see in a Mexican restaurant table side. he approached us whatever his name is which was Pablo or whatever and he also didn’t bring the server with him which he should have just to validate order bc BOH can say what ever they want but he said the server would have to pay for the mistake out of pocket . its a damn taco for god sake that cost like $3 to fix and make a guest happy. I gave the server the plate and told him to please take these onion filled tacos home with him. I got charged regardless for them plus other drinks I didn't order. This manager Pablo guy didn’t replace it nor fixed the problem and I left hungry with $98 tab. And 8 guys coming at me in the parking lot all in black attire forcing me to pay a bill I didn’t deserve to pay with such disrespect. I paid the bill and paid the server a very nice cash tip when I should not have been so kind to do so after how I was treated I never asked for casamigos!!!!!! I asked for Espolon reposado and they over charged me by $24! Wtf! This place is a joke. Stick to food trucks or be a door bouncer in your own country. Find a better way to bring a better establishment to James island with better management. Food ok. Staff ok. Ownership poor. Bartenders awful. Location...
Read moreWe wanted Mexican on our last night and this place was close by and looked good.
The entry point is a little crowded as you come in but the hostess was nice and got us seated right away. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We took a booth where we could see the bar with a few televisions.
We started out with chips, salsa, and queso. The queso is on the runnier side, but I don’t like the thick stuff so I thought it was good. The sales is different, not chunky, definitely smooth and with a strong tomato taste. I prefer mine with more cilantro but enjoyed this unique flavoring, too.
I had a corn tortilla shrimp taco and a hard shell beef taco. The shrimp taco was fresh, with red cabbage and a yummy chipotle sauce. I should have gotten two! The beef taco was standard and all I really noticed was how they flavor their meat, which is different than what I’m used to (more salty) but good.
Husband had a big burrito with steak and peppers with queso on top. He enjoyed it, and I enjoyed his side of gaucomole.
Our server wasn’t terribly helpful with recommendations and had trouble pointing us to something she liked on the menu. She also wasn’t terribly attentive and toward the end of the meal, it became confusing as to who our server was as two other waitresses came and asked if we were ready for the check or wanted more water (we did).
Overall, it was pretty fresh and good Mexican food, but nothing to write home about except that its pricier than a standard American-Mexican joint (but also a little fresher and cleaner so the price isn’t...
Read moreMy Family first tried the North Charleston location a few months back, and as non meat or dairy consumers, we were pleasantly surprised at the variety that Azul Mexicano had to offer. As a lover of Mexican food that is authentic, I definitely recommend this place for food, service, and atmosphere. The next location was James island which was even better! Our server greeted us with a smile every time that she approached and made sure to check on us often. Although the music was quite loud inside(even in the restroom) we had the option of eating outside on a beautiful day. The bugs were pretty much non-existent, and the traffic noise was no issue as we sat and ate. The food was also perfect for two children ages...
