If I write a review it's one of 2 reasons; either the experience was extremely off the charts awesome or it was the opposite. Millers was fantastic!
My family loves when we find a breakfast/brunch establishment that puts quality into their feature & everyday breakfast items & we have tried everything on Johns & James Islands/Folly Beach, most Downtown breakfast places, & several in Mt Pleasant.
In our opinion, coffee, biscuits, bacon, pastries, grits, home fries, & pancakes should be delicious w/thoughtful quality & prep all on their own. So far, most local breakfast eateries fall short in one or more of those items - either their biscuits are too crumbly, hard, or worst yet, reheated, their coffee is inferior quality, bacon tastes bland or just salty, grits are quick grits, runny or too much overkill with funky flavors & creams. (Don't mess w/my grits, y'all) lol Don't get me wrong, I'm not against creativity but the creativity shouldn't adulterate authenticity so much that it's no longer familiar. But not Millers! Everything on the menu has been carefully chosen & crafted to make for a tantalizing meal! Their quick breads & pastries are made in-house & their suppliers are from local farms. The grits are amazing! Milled in Edisto from several varieties of corn brings in the creativity of variety yet keeps it real without overwhelming outside ingredients. Being a Southerner who's big on quality food while being a delight for the palate I realize my standards might be higher than the average resident. But we have found our new go-to for the breakfast joint we've been searching for that fits all criteria! We'll be back w/all our...
Read moreStopped in for brunch on Sunday. Dropped my party off to check in and drove around the parking lot struggling to find a spot for about 15 minutes. Originally quoted an hour wait but only had to wait about a half hour.
Once we sat and ordered our coffees the cafe was backed up and it took us about 10 minutes to get our lattes and cappuccinos, but never received our original coffee.
Waitress had good recommendations and did a great job upselling, but wasn’t very attentive throughout our visit.
For drinks we ordered 2 vanilla cappuccinos, an iced vanilla latte, a hot vanilla latte and a cup of coffee. The drinks were all great, some of the best coffee we had on our trip.
For food we ordered the B.E.C. on a croissant, a hot honey donut, cinnamon bun, a side of homefries and the biscuits and gravy.
The B.E.C. Was huge and definitely worth the price with the amount of food you get.
Hot honey donut was delicious, but almost would have been better as a slider. It was a lot of flavor to keep eating.
Cinnamon Bun was a large portion, but very hard on the outside. The frosting was sweet and delicious.
Avoid ordering the biscuits and gravy. They just plain and simple were not good. They had an overwhelming cheese flavor and were so soft that the gravy made them complete mush.
The homefries were the star of the show and a pleasant surprise. They are not your typical homefries but their flavor was out of this world, with a delicious dipping sauce on the side.
All in all- the parking and service are enough to make me check out some place else the next go around and maybe just order a coffee and...
Read moreWhat a charming and electric vibe at Miller's! We are visiting from out of town and from the website could tell there were some fun menu options we wanted to try.
We got there and there was a wait. We were told 30 minutes but they got us in sooner. We were seated at a patio table. I had hoped to be seated indoors with the AC and the fun decor but was grateful for being seated so quickly.
We were helped right away by our server. My husband ordered a hot chicken sandwich on a brioche bun and I had the waffles. The meringue made the waffles. It along with the banana and caramel made it edible. The waffle itself was dry and not very flavorful.
My husband's sandwich was great but our side of home fries were where it was at. Whatever magic they do to them... delicious! Definitely worth getting.
Tis the way of the world, but the price was more than we enjoy paying. We paid $50 for two people drinking only water.
We had a great interaction with one of the staff ladies. We got her attention to ask a question and she eagerly answered and interacted with us. We are not locals to the Charleston area and we have not found wait staff or local shop/attraction employees to be overly attentive, friendly, or interactive. They have not been rude, just not the Southern warmth we usually encounter. Our encounter with her felt more like our usual experience with Southern charm.
We would definitely return to Miller's if we make it back...
