I arrived the other night with a party of 8 to celebrate the birthday of a local resident. I myself have been coming to the Myrtle Beach area for more than 28 years, and now a local resident of almost 5 years and this was my first time at this restaurant. I will say the food to my surprise was very good there were minimal to no complaints at our table. It appears they were under-staffed on the night we visited and the server tried her best, but was frazzled and somewhat disorganized making us wait long periods of time to order our food, check on us, and provide us with our complimentary desserts which we never received. My biggest issue is the surcharge that not only this restaurant but all restaurants are imposing in lieu of cash. The manager tried his best to explain, but I informed him of the South Carolina law that states It is illegal to impose a surcharge on a credit card in lieu of cash. As a previous chef myself with family members that are in the restaurant business I only hope for the best for these establishments, but in order to keep local and dedicated customers they need to make changes.

Update: our first trip here was great! You can read below. We were just here last weekend and it was horrible! Cold She Crab soup that I had to send back, my husband wanted the special of blackened sirloin and scallops. Steak was tough and the scallops a joke. I had the chicken marsala and it was salty, chicken was overcooked and the mashed potatoes were like glue. We asked our server if they had a new cook because the food was just horrible. I even sent an email with no response. Sad because I thought we had found a new awesome place. OLD REVIEW: Stuffed flounder was excellent and the She Crab soup is the best I have had since we moved down here and I have tried it many places. Reasonable prices too.

I am very disappointed of this place. This is usually my family’s to go place. We’ve been coming for years. The service and food has been declining. My siblings and I took our mom there for her birthday and our waitress acted like she didn’t want to serve us. She kept asking my sisters’ questions regarding extra charges as if they couldn’t afford it. The food was lousy, it had no taste to it. The oyster Rockefeller was absolutely disgusting, as if they just threw whatever on top and barely cooked it. I don’t know if we caught them on a bad day, but we won’t be back anytime soon.

A family-style seafood restaurant.

Only having eaten here once, I am curious to try it again to see what other items they have on the menu. We ordered the Driftwood Platter for Two which came with shrimp, oysters, scallops, deviled crab, flounder and clam strips. What surprised us though is that everything on the platter was deep fried! It wasn't labeled as "fried" so we didn't expect that and limited what we truly wanted to eat from the dish. Not to say that deep frying all that food won't make it delicious, the food was perfectly fried and not greasy at all, but I had never had deep fried clams and when you don't clarify that I was expecting a much different feel than what we received. It also took the color palette out of the dish, leaving us with a large pile of breaded fish and crustaceans! They do start you off with a bowl of some banging hush-puppies that I could not get enough of, served with some sort of tuna maybe cream cheese mixture that was to die for!

Enter the atmosphere was very quiet and quaint very family oriented and seem to have a fairly friendly staff moving about, taking orders, and covering the tables. The wait time wasn't too bad only about 15 minutes, and they have one of the electronic beeper devices letting you know when your table is ready so you can wander around to different areas in the shopping center while you wait for your table to be ready. The tables and utensils were nothing fancy by any means, but they kept everything very tidy and clean. There menu offers a variety of items for seafood lovers and each plate is going to come out with an abundance of delectable marine life that would rival any buffet you may...

My family and I are here on vacation, heard this was the spot that "locals don't want you to know about"... And I understand why. The food was really good. We waited for our food for 45 minutes after ordering and sat without refills for 15/20 minutes. I over looked that because they were understandably packed! Now the downfall- I got food poisoning from the small containers of tuna salad with crackers on the table. Ended up at the emergency room, went through the whole meal and vomiting time line, lab work down and he said food poisoning... That's fine, things happen. Spent the whole night in the ER, not upset.. Yet. Called the restaurant just to simply inform the manager of possibly over dated tuna salad, maybe mayo that soured, idk. Just didn't want it to ruin other peoples vacation. At this point I was a returning customer... Till the manager told me that the information that was given to me by the doctor was incorrect and that getting food poision from his restaurant and puking an hour to 2 hours after eating was "news to him" that it took 24 hours for symptoms of food poision to show... that he'd tell the dhec that was there and to have a nice day. And you lost me as a customer. The food was wonderful but the manager clearly didn't care and made me feel like my phone call and concern was unimportant. I didn't want ANY kind of reimbursement, just for him to check the food dates and pay more attention to what's being served, after spending hours in the hospital and time away from my family...

Overall a 3 star experience. Will we try it again, yes . Worth the money for sure .

Got here at 9:58am. Was told 25 to 30 minute wait. It is now 1054 am. Still waiting. Hostess is horrible at times. Everyone been waiting well to an hour. First time here. Waiting this out, better be good.... but hostess needs better training on timing stuff out. Big difference between 25 to 30 which I would wait, then waiting an hour, I would not have stayed and gone elsewhere. Other guy, maybe who has been here before, said no I'll go to eggs up. Lmfao she crossed us out...so we got to wait extra 🤣 better be good. So we starting a one star for hostess/wait time...

I'll update. Got a seat 1057. No waitress/waiter yet. So, not sure if we just go up lol. No had told us anything.

We just went up, one at a time. Finally got a waiter to take drink order and omelette/waffle order in.

Food good so far. Waiter ok. Most of items from buffet are good. French toast sticks burnt. Waiting on omelets and waffles. 11:12. So we at a 2 🌟

Omelets came out great. We both liked ours . Tried the strawberry waffle , was good as well.. Both loved the cheese shredded potatoes . 2 times went up and there were no biscuits and gravy.. quite a few waiting on biscuits refill. 3stars. Bacon way overdone to point of dehydrated . Finally got to try the biscuits and gravy. Was not impressed with the...
