I really wanted to like this restaurant. I quite miss having regular Thai and Japanese food since moving to Lugoff...
I will continue to miss these kinds of favorfull cuisines, because it's certainly not happening at this restaurant.
The Pad Thai was way off - the ingredients were neither complete, nor fresh. The "Thai curry" was neither curry nor Thai. I'm giving 2/5 because we managed to finish most of the Pad Thai... Cannot say the same for the curry.
The restaurant itself had 3-4 poorly kept, fairly unhygienic (dirty) looking tables - old plastic covers cemented onto the surface. Wall decor hangs at random, tattered, stained and just in general, poorly maintened for an eating establishment. If we weren't already accustomed to eating questionable street food, we would have walked out. But again, we really wanted to give this place a try in desperate hopes of re-aquainting ourselves with much loved meals.
The little altar of offerings (which I've never seen on a floor) was the only maintained looking anything.
We honestly felt as if we were troubling the server/cashier when putting in our order for take out. But there was no one else in the establishment, so we thought it would be ok...
Again, our hopes had been so high because there's really no Eastern cuisine on this side of the tracks. How is it even possible to mess up 2 dishes that are so fairly easy...
Read moreOrdered food for dinner tonight (2/12/2020) and spent $40. The teriyaki chicken is flavorful: however; the veggies that came with it were overcooked. The “ham” fried rice: is not ham fried rice at all: it’s white rice with soy sauce and a sprinkle of ham on top/ there was literally 0 ham mixed in or veggies in rice/ they are added to the top. Which is NOT how it is prepared. The bang bang chicken with rice was good. The hibachi is heavily seasoned and is smothered in sauce, but taste decent/ comes with white rice and egg roll. Ok the egg rolls, everyone’s favorite add on...frozen!! The egg rolls are frozen! I am in Chinese shock! Who does that..? The wonton soup already had soy sauce added to it which is normally done by the customer, not the cook, and it was way too heavy on the soy sauce which changed the entire flavor of the soup: the cheese wontons are the only thing that I can truly say didn’t disappoint. Not at all trying to knock this place but from the looks of the place and then the taste of the food, it is all thrown together..needs work and I will try again in the very...
Read moreI picked up some take-out from here on a Sunday afternoon, and was told it would take 20-25 minutes. Not only did it come out sooner, it was freshly prepared and was absolutely delicious! The chicken lo mein was wonderful, the sesame chicken was out of this world, and the wontons had more flavor than any I've had before! I work in the restaurant industry, and it takes a lot for a take-out/fast food style restaurant to impress me, but Goji most certainly did! They have won a new family...
