Paradice Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in South Carolina

DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES!!! We aren't from the area, but saw they had allergy friendly options available (dairy free). We have some other allergies too, so we waited to enter so there wouldn't be anyone behind us, knowing we'd have a few other questions and not wanting to hold up a line. When we told the employee that we have a few allergies and had questions, she was very rude and didn't want to help. She rolled her eyes and simply relplied "you'll be fine, just order". We asked again, trying to get an answer because we drove an hour to get there, and she said, "I don't know what's in the food. I just scoop here. I'm not here for questions". We ended up leaving as we can't take risks with not knowing for sure what allergens are present. This is unacceptable behavior for a business to let their employees act this rudely. I would understand if they kindly said they weren't comfortable working with allergies or if they didn't know how to handle them, but they should have been respectful at the very least. The owner wasn't there at the time, so I'm not sure how it is when they're around, but if their expectation is different for handling allergies, then better staff training is...

This is now our family's go to place for ice cream. The woman who waited on us was super nice, they make their own ice cream, and they make 9 Vegan flavors too. Honestly, I couldn't believe that I could have ice cream!

Updated: 4/19/2025: This is absolutely a must go site to visit when you are at Pawley's Island. There are 70 scrumptious flavors from which to choose. That includes VEGAN flavors! Finally, I can go eat ice cream with my family and absolutely love a "full flavor" experience. Every Spring, my family makes the nearly 400-mile trip from Marietta, GA to Pawley's for the beach and ice cream. Every evening that Paradice is open, my family is there for a double scoop of something different... except for my son who loves vanilla.

The owners are phenomenally nice and patience folks, who always greet us with wide smiles! We have been going to Pawley's Island for 15 years now, and it is always a wonderful part...

Wow, wow and did I say WOW! As a person who can not have a lot of dairy, it’s so nice to find a place that has an alternative! And not only that, it was fresh, multiple options! My wife and I had just finished a not so pleasant lunch experience and getting some great ice cream make it all work out OK! They had so many flavors and they all seemed like they would be great, I got the thin-mint and peanut butter made with coconut milk! So good and satisfying. My wife got the strawberry and chocolate chip cookie dough and she was also in heaven. We bought said having that ice cream shop was worth the drive and going back to that place again on our next adventure to Pawley’s Island! Now I’m not kidding but I’d sing for ice cream and for this great place, my entire catalog! I think a great one that describes this place perfectly is “Hidden Treasure.” An album of different vibes and flavors, just like this...
