Taco Riendo — Restaurant in South Carolina

Taco Riendo is absolutely hands down THE BEST Mexican restaurant in town. I am very hard on restaurants in that they should be spot on with EVERY aspect of dining. I figure if an establishment is getting my hard earned money then I better get what I pay for. I am happy to say that in the four years of coming to Taco Riendo, dine in and take out, we have NEVER ONCE BEEN DISSATISFIED! You get what you pay for and then some! My first experience was four years ago during Christmas shopping. My daughter and I were pooped and too tired to get out of the car. We couldn't think of anything to get. Somehow we wound up there and all because it has a drive thru! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! We ordered cheese and shrimp quesadilla, tacos, sweet teas. I did not realize they were dinners. I could not believe my eyes when that order came ready! I pulled into a space just to check all was there that was ordered. We had so much food. It all was placed neatly in their boxes. Our quesadillas were there which came with Mexican Rice. We thought they were just going to be the quesadillas without rice. What was cool was that they loaded us up with three paper bags slam full of chips and four deep cups of salsa. We had enough food for an army! I could not believe it. The Best part was how fabulous it tasted. From then on it is my favorite place in the world to eat. We go there about once a week. Not once have they let us down. I have had their frozen margaritas...YUMMY! Do yourselves a favor and visit this fine establishment. Your tummy...

Mexican food gets all the hype, and for this reason, my expectations are always high when I visit a Mexican restaurant. Generally, I normally leave under welmed thinking maybe I didn't get the right thing. I'm not saying it wasn't good but just under welmed.

Taco Riendo was recommended to me as an authentic Mexican food. So here I go, but for some reason, not any real expectations. I wasn't paying, so it will be OK anyway. Let's start here. This review is based on my second visit in 3 days...yep, you know where this is going....The Tex Mex...of the chain....chicken, beef, and fish tacos took me to that place I had been longing for for so long. Look at the pics, it's every bit as flavorful as it looks. Yay, Finally I found my happy place with Mexican cuisine. If you live in Senca, you probably already know. But for others like me, you gon learn today. I had the chicken Fundido last and it was the best I had. I think the key is their tortillas are just on point. So anything that they use them for will be a hit. The only thing that I don't understand is how can so much be right and the guacamole be sub-par. So, Taco Riendo, my only suggestion for you is to improve the guacamole, and you will have to get a larger place. As for anyone that read this long review because I couldn't get to point, please check them out ...and...and...hit me up and let me know...

If you would’ve asked me 6 months ago, 5 stars across the board. We loved this place, and oftentimes were going twice a week. Best food in probably all of the upstate. Our server knew us and what we ordered, service was always deserving of well over 20%. However, recently, it’s gone downhill, and we’re quite upset about it. New menus led to $3-$4 price increases, which would be excused had other things remained the same. Their checkout process is predatory. It went from paper checks dropped at your table to Square readers that the server holds, staring at you while you select your tip percentage (of which STARTS at 20%). It leaves you unable to review your check, and leaves no room to account for the poor service we experienced last visit. Our server asked us what we wanted to drink, and before we could answer, walked away to bus a table and didn’t return until 10 minutes later. I wish I was kidding—we were a bit dumbfounded. Never in my life has that happened before. Drinks weren’t refilled until we were finished with our meal, which normally isn’t an issue.

Even with the aforementioned, I still don’t have the heart to give one star. We loved this place and recommended it to everyone, but not sure if that’ll continue moving forward. Really disappointing. But, overall, can’t complain about the food quality. Still super good, but we’ll be going elsewhere...
