Most locals around here have told me they prefer Guadalajara's Mexican restaurant to the nearby one in Belle Fourche (Los Agaves). Personally, I like Los Agaves more; their food seemed more flavorful with slightly bigger portion sizes on similar dishes, better Horchata, plus more space for people. I understand Guadalajara's sees more traffic, but every time I'm there I feel very crowded, even just sitting at the table, like sardines. However Guadalajara's is still a great place to go, they really go all out with their decorating, it shows in every detail. And I don't go frequently enough to know for sure, but it seems like they have new menu items more frequently and possibly more specials available. The service was good, relatively fast for being so busy. And they'll give you a memorable experience if it's your birthday! I snuck away from the table to tell the waitress it's my 76 yr old dad's birthday and ask if they would sing Happy Birthday to him (he hates that kind of stuff which made all the more hilarious), they came parading out, beating their super loud drum/pan thing (didn't pay attention) and start singing, put a sombrero on my dad's head and brought him a very sizeable scoop of fried ice cream that he says was fantastic, I don't believe they charged us for it either. He was mortified but definitely enjoyed it and created a lasting memory, fun experience! And great salsa! I wouldn't call it spicy but it was too much for my spice-sensitive dad and 5 yr old daughter.

Staying at the KOA Next-door and grabbed to-go on a Sunday night after a long drive in. Not only were they open to 930 on a Sunday, which was helpful, but the food was good. Like really good. Tacos had lots of meat, and taco shell for taco salad was crispy and good flavor. Prices were reasonable. Taated like real food, not greasy like some fat food. Also, the owner was there when I came in (at 830pm on a Sunday) hung in the entry way were pictures of his family, and the thank-you notes they've received for donations made to the local community. It's the kind of food you hope to find, and the kind of business you feel good supporting.

This place is so fun. Don't be intimidated by the full parking lot, the inside is huge. From the outside it looked like a 30 minute wait and when we walked in we got seated right away. The value you here is tremendous. There mild salsa was fresh, had zing without hear and packed with onions and tomatoes. I had the molcajete which is a savory soup filled with chicken, steak and veggies in a tomato base served with rice and sour cream upon request. I recommend getting both. Caryn had the the bacon wrapped shrimp and loved every bite. The guacamole is fresh, the service is top notch, you can tell this is run by a family. Don't miss it.

My family and I have been enjoying great food here (Spearfish location) for many years. The service has gone down hill over the last several years. The last time we tried it, we waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Waitress did not stop once to check on us in that 45 minutes. Other tables received refills on drinks and chips, we were passed over. No, they were not busy, Restaurant may have been 25% full. When our food finally arrived she brought it to our table with hot pads stating the plates were very hot. The plates WERE not hot, they were barely warm and the food was less than warm. My grand daughters plate had specks of old crusty food from a previous customer. My son ordered the carne asada and I had the camerones moneray, The bacon was soggy and cold from sitting for so long and what very little cheese that came with the dish was baked to the plate. They completely overlooked the onions that were supposed to be added to the green peppers. My son and I needed more tortillas to finish our meal, we tried to get the waitress’s attention and asked for more tortillas as she walked by, but she didn’t acknowledge us, she didn’t glance our way, she just zoomed by. In fact she never stopped at our table again. At this point our glasses were bone dry, food was only getting colder and soggier and we began to wonder if we were invisible!! We left our half eaten meal, waited for a few minutes by the front check out counter to let someone know of our extreme disappointment in everyone and everything, but no one was to be found. We just left. Went to McDonald’s. We will most likely never eat...

I hadn't been to this restaurant in over two years, and it was good back then. I was so looking forward to it. Big disappointment! The food was flavorless, the rice tasted like it had rancid oil on it, the meat was cooked to rock hard, dried out, flavorless, pieces of unidentifiable "stuff" swimming in grease! The guacamole had flavor. As a senior woman dining alone, I have experienced being treated badly on numerous occasions and this was no exception. The waitress never came back to check on me, never offered more water, and I waited a long time for the check. At check out, she ran my card, grunted, and left me standing there. She came back, pushed my card back to me with the receipt to sign. She never asked if it was good, or said thanks for coming in, or come back soon. Just left. I will not go back there. If I could do negative...
