Visited recently with friends. Not a good experience. Food was overpriced. The parking is terrible. They had an event ending when we were there and for some reason they decided to carry in all the tables into the dining room in an extremely disruptive manner. Rather than collapsing the tables outside they decided to loudly collapse them inside. They also knocked over chairs and overall made a lot of commotion. We were seated near the door where they were bringing in the tables and we had to watch to be sure they weren’t going to run into us. They carried tables in over their heads with two people, almost tripping over each other to carry it in. Why they wouldn’t have at least collapsed the table first is beyond me. They proceeded to go in and out for at least an hour, collapsing tables inside and setting up brunch. All of this while we were trying to eat and catch up with friends. This is maybe ten feet from us. They should have done this when they were closed or at least closed off that area of the restaurant. Extremely disruptive.
Also the TV was right above our table and above one of our guest’s head, such that if she hadn’t paid attention while getting up she could have hit her head on it as it was jutting out. Very poor setup.
The food itself was mediocre, nothing to write home about. Not very impressed considering the cost. Chicken we had was somewhat rubbery. The service was not very good, the waitress came back only a few times and didn’t refill drinks towards the end. It was like she had just disappeared.
Good night with friends but wouldn’t go back to this restaurant.
Another comment— this restaurant regularly has delivery trucks blocking the road during weekdays (usually around noon), making it unsafe for drivers to go around the blind curve as they would need to enter the other lane to get around the truck without being able to see said lane. Once I almost hit the truck due to not having any cones placed before the turn. No idea it was even there then you turn the corner and bam! You have to swerve around it and pray nobody is there in the oncoming lane. Very poor design. I hope nobody gets seriously injured there. I encourage drivers who encounter this to call the SW Greensburg non emergency number and report it— this is the only way to get them to take...
Read moreWe ate Sunday brunch at Waterworks. The brunch consists of an omelet station, pasta station, beef and ham carving stations, dessert bar, and breakfast and lunch hot items. Juices and breakfast drinks (I.e., mimosas) are available. The omelet and pasta stations have many toppings and add-ins. It does worry me that none are on ice, especially for a long service time. We arrive at open, so everything is fresh. The breakfast hot bar is in the area of the omelets and the items for breakfast are replenished in small amounts and cooked right there, so that is very fresh. Excellent French toast and other hot breakfast items. The meat carving is excellent with well-seasoned beef and a typical area ham. The lunch items are a nice selection and atypical for a Sunday brunch. We've been here twice, but the items were different. Chicken cacciatore and newburg cod are examples of unusual items in this area, but very well done. The desserts are unlikely made in-house but are definitely very good. There are a selection of pies, cookies, and cakes and they don't seem to be from Sysco. They seem to be more fresh and tasty. Overall, the food quality is comparable to the Grand Concourse and their Sunday brunch with the difference being no lox and salmon and no kids' area.
The room has been either the bar area or the event area. We prefer the event area. The event area is decorated like a wedding was held the previous day and the high ceilings and bright space are perfect for a slow Sunday brunch. On nice days you can eat outside at umbrella-covered tables of nice size.
The price was VERY reasonable for this brunch. I'd have paid more.
Why a 4-star review then? Simply put: the service. Our waitress was not attentive. One could hear them complain if someone chose outdoor seating. I had to beg for water eventually. ...
Read moreI made reservations for Easter Brunch at 2:30. When we arrived, there was no table set up for the party of 11. We we led to a table that had only a tablecloth on it only. We waited approx 15 minutes for a waitress to come to the table and bring drink orders, place settings etc. She got the drink orders incorrect. When we finally got to the buffet, ALL THE BREAKFAST FOOD WAS GONE and was told that it wouldn't be replaced. There were 4 empty Heinz ketchup bottles sitting next to the cold smiley face fries and cold chicken fingers. The buffet was supposed to run to 6 pm. The "hot foods" were cold. The dessert table had one option. The bill was $400.00 for horrible food. I phoned two days later ( it was closed the next day) and got a manager from Carson's who called me back. She assured me that the owner was out of town and would call me the next day and "make things right". It is now May 2, and I still haven't heard from the owner nor did they make things right. I really was embarrassed to have my family go to a buffet that was so poor. Since it was Easter and we had family from out of town, I didn't want to complain at that time. If you are thinking of a wedding or catering, I would think twice!!!!! I've never spent so much money on a buffet that wasn't stocked and the quality of the food...
