Typical diner vibes, food is pretty good, and servers are quick and friendly. My only feedback is that they post signs or otherwise let you know to go to the register to pay when you're ready. I was unaware of this and we sat waiting for awhile and made multiple attempts to get the attention of any wait staff to get our receipt. Instead of letting us know, they kindly went and got it from the register. I appreciated that, but once I went to leave I noticed that all tickets are kept at the register for customers to pay when they're ready. I think that's a great setup and frees up the servers to focus on actively dining customers without hovering over those wrapping up their visit and designates a specific person to handle financial transactions. But I'm not psychic, I can't know there's a different expectation if no one tells me. Plenty of dining establishments expect you to cash out with your wait staff or at least drop off the check and tell you to go to the register. While we were trying to get the attention of a server for our check I wondered if I could simply go to the register to pay, but I was nervous that someone would think I was skipping on my bill since I hadn't received one yet and the register is near the exits. I got anxious and decided to stay seated and continued to focus on getting a server's attention for the check. It all worked out, and now that I know it'll make future visits go more smoothly, but some signage or communication in advance...
Read moreI brought my service dog (newly in training, and I'm in training as a handler). My SDiT (service dog in training) slipped from my leash and kinda caused a curfuffle in the entrance that was super embarassing enough, I apologized profusely, the resteraunt was very busy and I asked to sit in the back, where there would be more room for my SDiT, but there wasn't so we picked a cramped booth where I could eat in peace. I placed the dog on the seat because she has a hard time staying under tables. I understand training will get her there but she is IN TRAINING she has to be brought places and put in situations (responsibly). I finally got her under the table, and she was doing fine, not bothering anyone and I was working with my SDiT when the manager decided to address things despite my apology and correction of my SDiT. The manager embarrassed me despite my repeated apologies, and threatened to ask us to leave. SDiTs have the same rights as SDs and I am appalled at the treatment I received as a disabled person. I understand that businesses have to business...

In all seriousness, you don't get much better than a traditional purely local establishment that serves REAL food, GOOD food, cooked fresh, and at the best POSSIBLE price.
The waitstaff are friendly and welcoming, and show excellent rapport with folks smart enough to have become "regulars". This heartwarming familiarity created a whimsically homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you could stay all day. Plus, I don't know if this means so much to you but I LOOOOOVED how they stock each seat at the bar with a cinnamon sugar shaker for flavoring anything you darned well please! You wouldn't expect how much of a difference that makes, ESPECIALLY in their already delightfully flavorful and refreshingly potent coffee!
Should you go to Egg & I? There are three questions to determine if so:
It's just...
