Taco John's — Restaurant in South Jacksonville

So I just left a scathing review on their corporate website.

It is 7/20/25 and I decided to have a hot decent meal. I don't normally eat out anymore, but I said to myself, why not? Haven't had Taco John's in ages, so let's get some burritos!!!

The store is clean, the atmosphere is nice. There was a decent line of people waiting to order and receive food, so I am thinking this is going to be good.

I order two Beef Taco Bravos, a Beef Grilled Stuffed taco and a small olé.

I ate the potatoes first and they were great! Just like I remembered!

Then I go for a Beef Taco Bravo. I take a bite and realize, I don't taste anything. No seasoning, the meat, NOTHING. I look at the burrito, to make sure I took a bite of all the fixings. I take another bite. This time I KNOW for a fact I got a mouthful of everything.

FLAVORLESS. WTH?? I took a few more bites before I stopped completely, spit out the last bite and put down the taco.

It tasted like cardboard. There is no flavor in the meat, in the beans, the crunchy taco was soggy and tasted like straight cornmeal... I couldn't eat it.

So I go for the grilled taco. Same ugly thing. I ended up throwing away ALL of my food, except the potatoes. I had never ate something so DISGUSTING in my life!!!

Taco Johns used to have flavor. Used to be the place to go... I will NEVER go to another Taco Johns in this whole entire...

I have ordered from here before bc I loved their food but today was the LAST time I will EVER eat at Taco John’s. We went thru drive thru and it was NOT busy. We paid and was told to move up bc they had to make our food but nobody was behind us. So I moved up and one person came and ordered behind us like after 10 minutes of waiting and got their food right there at the window! We still waited 5 minutes after she left! Then when we did get our food they didn’t bring our drinks out and we had to say where is our drinks? We didn’t get them at the window like we should have. Then we got our food thinking it was hot and fresh… we were wrong! The food wasn’t even hot at all. It was just warm. The tator tots were to salty and my burrito tasted of vegetables only! My hubby’s was only chicken and sauce. Wasn’t even considered a burrito! His drink was nasty tasting too. So we will not get anymore food from this place. It used to be better then Taco Bell but I’ll go there from now on if I want a decent taco...

I love Taco John’s. Was so glad to find a closer one to us than Peoria. We always get the taco salad. We have been to the Jacksonville store 4 times now. The first couple times were close to other Taco John’s we have been to, but did not ask us what kind of dressing we wanted on our salads. When we asked for Pica da Gallo we were charged 80 cents for about 2 tablespoons. Other Taco John’s that is a standard topping. The last 2 times we have been there the meat has been dripping in grease, there were no black olives on the salads and the shells were broken into many pieces, like they were pieced back together and cold. Going thru the drive thru, we got no forks or napkins. Took a good 15 minutes for very bad food and service. Too bad, cause most Taco John’s are very good places to eat.
