I'm giving this place of three because of the nice waiter and the location is nice. I also only tried the Mexican food so I don't know what the other food tastes like. When I went at lunch there was a lot of retired people eating there. I drove out of the way to try this place because I was told by people they had good authentic Mexican food. I'm assuming it's people that have never been outside of the area. I was disappointed with the food and the prices for what I received if the food had been authentic the prices would have been worth it. But everything was flavorless and watered down I'm not sure if it was done because most of the guests are primarily elderly from what I saw today. They didn't even have authentic Mexican hot sauce or cheeses on my flautas. The chips were cold they tasted a little stale and the salsa was tasteless and like a tomato puree. It's very Americanized and if that's what you like you'll probably like this place. But for me it wasn't what I was expecting. Better to travel to other places and get Mexican food in the area. I hope they read these reviews because they are Mexican family and I'm sure that they can make better food and if they've watered it down for the area in the population that they're getting I think that's the wrong thing to do. I think they would be better and busier if they had authentic Mexican food at...
Read moreI tried breakfast at Caffe 101 for the first time and was incredibly disappointed. The location is beautiful - right near Children's lake in Boiling Springs. There is a decent sized parking lot in the back and a nice patio for dining outside. There was no one to greet you when you arrived and no signage so it was unclear whether to seat yourself or wait to be seated. After awhile someone came out and told me to seat myself. The waitress came quickly to take my order. I ordered the Belgian waffle, bacon and coffee. The coffee was very good - served hot and strong. Unfortunately, I only got one cup. I was never offered a refill even as my cup sat empty for over 30 minutes. I tried to ask for one but my waitress disappeared for about 20 minutes and I could not get the attention of the waitress serving the table next to mine. At every other diner I have ever been to, the wait staff will refill everyone's coffee when they bring the pot out. Apparently that is not the case at this café. The waffle was very disappointing. It was not much bigger than an Ego. It was lukewarm, soggy and bland. The bacon was way overcooked. The restaurant was busy when I was there but it is very small (maybe 20 people max) and there were at least three waiters. When I went to check out, they charged a 4% fee to use a credit card. Overall, I feel like I wasted my money...
Read moreWe hiked from White Rock to Boiling Springs on a hot muggy day in June and stopped here for lunch around 1pm. Counted 6 servers and 1 floor manager in the small restaurant. Plus coffee shop staffing in the annex. No air-conditioning inside and it was sweltering hot on the patio outside. Straight from the trail, we were hot, thirsty and hungry. Our waitress gave us menus and took our drink order, left and never returned. After 15 minutes waiting for our drinks, literally water and soft drinks, we left. We watched our waitress walk by our table 6 times, twice to serve 2 other orders, once to get the table next to us a box, then to pay their check. The last straw was watching her carry a plate of sauces for another server as we sat and watched, parched, hot and hungry. We knew she was new because we watched the floor manager type orders in and close a check for her. But obviously not paying attention to his new server's tables. We wouldn't have mind waiting a little longer for our food but in 90 degree heat inside the building ice water would have would have at least given us a...
