El Local Restaurante 2 — Restaurant in South Milwaukee

We were here prior to the change in name and ownership. I was originally disappointed when I walked in because we like to try new places and I recognized the layout of the interior, but the name was unfamiliar. After talking with the server about it, I was excited that it was ACTUALLY a new place - to US anyway. She was concerned that I was disappointed it was not the previous business and I told her NO. We love trying new so it was actually a great thing. If you enter at the corner you will need to walk through the bar area to enter the dining room. Further down the building to the West is an entrance straight into the dining room. They have some Mexican themed decor, but nothing over the top or loud to over stimulate the senses. Great for having table conversations.

Our server was just lovely. In true form I neglected to get her name. Very sweet. Very helpful. Knowledgeable. Spot on service throughout our evening. We would thoroughly enjoy having her again.

So now the food. What can I say. Absolutely delicious. At our table were ordered Shrimp Burrito Dinner plus a Fish Taco, Chicken Tostada Dinner plus a Carne Asada Taco, and I had the Carne Asada Burrito Dinner plus a Cheese Enchilada. We all found our selections to be so flavorful and perfectly made. The Carne Asada is extremely tender and the burritos are just STUFFED. Not to mention HUGE. So glad I did not get an appetizer and limited my pre-meal chip intake, because I STILL had to take half my meal home. The ONLY thing missing is an a la carte section on the menu so you can build your own combo to try several items in one sitting. What we had was so wonderfully awesome I need to try more of their dishes. I also had a Blended, Mango Margarita (well, two) and they had SO much mango flavor. They were thick, but very smooth. Not the slushy-type texture at...

After a long Sunday of work I decided to check this out due to them being newer and wanting something different. There was one other large family in there so I thought we would get serviced pretty quick. That was not the case at all. My buddy and I both ordered the enchilada meal with green sauce and a few tacos on the side. Tacos were good, enchiladas were ok beans ummmm I wouldn’t get again, rice your typical mexican rice. What really was bad from a service standpoint is they served a really good Margarita that I drank in about 10min and ordered another one right away. However, they didn’t bring it out until I was almost done with dinner. When she dropped it off she said they ran out of the mix and asked if I liked it..I said not good and I’ll pass on the attempt of what she whipped up. I asked if she could just take it back and remove from the bill. She said she couldn’t and that I could order something else even though she can tell we wanted to leave. I left the full drink and paid the $7 dollars and still tipped her almost %20 still but they kind of ruined any plans...

6-27 Look I've been coming to this Gem for a year and now I just Call it "Maria's!" The food was Delicious as always. Literally enjoyed everything until the last bite. As always Thank you Maria for being You, you're simply amazing!

5-9 and 5-10-25 Was craving the Best Quesa Birria so of course I had to come running! Yes i came 2 days in a row and you would too if you knew how good the Quesa Birria is!
