If your last trip to Flavortown was to Vincentown Diner, you would be delightfully surprised at the meal you would receive here. So go ahead and add that to the list. Growing up in Jersey, I feel that Vincentown Diner definitely raves as one of the better local diners that I have been to. I mean, don't take my word for it - you can always look to a much better known and more qualified person than myself, i.e. Guy Fieiri.
Not an expert in diner cuisine and experiences by any means, I feel that Vincentown Diner does a great job in keeping with the times - the modernization of their image and menu is apparent. Sure, there is definitely the train of thought that sticking with the basics is the right way of doing things. However, I argue that in an industry and culture where stagnation may result in downfall, Vincentown Diner does a great job at maintaining the basics while exploring menu items that bridges the gap to other tastes and experiences. As such, Vincentown Diner is truly unique.
From the moment you arrive, you will find that the Vincentown Diner does not subscribe to the typical brick-and-mortar, 70s/80s diner appearance. The design of the building is incredibly sleek, with clean lines and appearance. It does a great job at catching one's attention as it sits upon the intersection. You may even mistake it as a fine dining venue, until you see the word "diner" on it. There is a neat patio area with rocking chairs, but all the seating is located inside the diner.
Upon entering the diner, you will begin to see the transition into the old school diner look as if you are travelling through time in a sense. The diner is clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are a bit small, but this is probably not the reason why you're here. We ate here around noon, and found that the service was great. Literally the entire staff was approachable and incredibly friendly. Our waiter was outstanding and knowledgeable of the menu items; he was on point with taking our orders and delivered accordingly.
As mentioned previously, the menu items fused traditional diner items (breakfast, sandwiches, and burgers) and explores a bit of other cultural items. The food was great (I know I'm being vague here, but I assure you that you will be delighted with the portions and flavor in your meal). I'm looking forward to coming back again, and trying out their burgers.
If you're working on Fort Dix, whether that be during the weekday or weekend, I challenge you to make the trip out this way to Vincentown Diner. Trust me, the meal will make your day! But really for anyone in New Jersey, I would recommend Vincentown Diner as a...
Read moreIve been going here for a while, way more often in the last year. My wife enjoys their pancakes very much. Ive enjoyed everything Ive had and as a creature of habit I dont stray to other stuff often.
Today I ordered fish and chips. A cook crispy piece of fish with tartar sauce sounded good.
Unfortunately when I got home i opened the box and 1. The fish was laying over all the fries so the fries were completely soggy
When I went to eat the fish the breading completely came off, leaving me with a bare piece of fish. The second piece did the same, and the breading was just a greasy mushy mess.
To their credit they gave me a gift card
But for a place with higher prices that prides themselves on local food, this was surprising.
After they gave me a gift card over the phone I decided to tough it out and just cover it all in tartar sauce and eat it with a fork.
The fish was completely tasteless. Which ok its probably frozen so whatever.
The BREADING had a very sour taste, like it was cooked in old grease.
With eating out costing so much these days, establishments that care about their product should never let something like this leave their kitchen.
Again, credit to them for giving me a gift card. They did offer to give me something else if I drove back out but I had been doing errands since 345 after work, I wasnt leaving the house again.
Very disappointing food
Great staff and nice inside.
Response to Owner:
Thanks for the response. While I completely understand that taking these items home in a box will cause some issues, the state it was in was very out of the ordinary, it isnt the first fish and chips Ive taken out of an establishment right?
What I dont understand and what was not addressed was the very sour taste of the breading, after a few bites I could not finish eating. This is the concerning part of the experience, and something I would look into, especially if you pride yourself on your fish and chips.
I'm not trying to be a bitchy customer, I visit your place weekly and enjoy it, but felt compelled to...
Read moreI changed my 3 star review to 1 star after I contacted the restaurant to discuss the damage to my clothing. Instead of having a conversation with me they DOXED me on Reddit. Now I'm getting weird messages from strangers. That is honestly unhinged. Avoid this place! ...
The food is good but the waitstaff leaves a lot to be desired. This was my third time dinning here.
I fell in love with the cozy atmosphere on my first visit, plus their coffee is fantastic. The meal was fine, except my husband ordered the steak and eggs and said his steak was dry. It was way over cooked.
Our second visit was just okay. We were seated in the dinning room so we didn't get that cozy vibe. Service was just okay. One member of the party said the meatloaf was dry, which is weird since that's supposed to be their specialty.
Tonight one person just wasn't impressed with their food, another said the meatballs were dry - noticing a trend here. My food was good, but it was hard to enjoy it after the waitress dumped salad dressing all over me, then ran off to do something else without even realizing what she had done, leaving me to find my own napkins when she ignored my urgent calls for assistance. She wasn’t our main server, but helping an apparent new employee. In any other restaurant that would have been a comped meal, or at least our drinks, but instead our main server proceeded to forget the drinks we ordered. He wasn’t busy. He was rolling utensils in napkins when he noticed us looking his way, and we reminded him about our drinks. He also forgot our waters which we requested, and even the salad that ended up with it's dressing in my lap was initially forgotten. Plates were not cleared from the table, making everything cluttered and me nervous I was going to get spilled on again. Meanwhile other servers praised his "great work." I guess it's not really his fault if he's so new. His training was obviously abysmal. With no emphasis on service, it doesn't matter how good the food is. Eating here is untenable and the food isn't...
