We went to Kizl's restaurant this morning with plans of meeting my son, wife and grandchild. We were asked how many I told her 5, 4 adults 1 child. She said she cannot seat us yet and I said well we want to just sit in the booth and have coffee while we wait we did not want a table anyway. I started to go to booth and said NO u cannot sit down. I was stunned, I said why not, she said "rules" are no one is seated until full party is here. I said that makes no sense, she said we can wait out in porch area (it is inclosed but not heated), we are in our middle 70's we did not sit in 30 degree temps. We went into porch area so I could call my son to let him know we were not staying there. 2 separate customers came out and each one stated, we saw what was said to u and it is disgraceful the way u were treated. Then one said to my husband "thank u for your service to our country", terrible the way they disrespect you especially since u served in the military. (My husband proudly wears his Marine hat). I decide right then that I was going to talk to the owner. I did tell him that what happen I felt was very poor customer service. His answer to me was "I can make any rules I want for my business", I said yes but I pay your bills, and he relied "I pay my own bills". I responded yes because of people like me who pay u. He then explained that he has to rotate his tables fast in order to make his costs and he cannot afford anyone sitting taking up a table drinking coffee while waiting for others to arrive, I pointed out to him the table in question was still empty, no one had taken it anyway. Them I said my husband served in the military so people like u have the right to tell us to sit outside, disrespectful as it is, still his right to do so. He did thank my husband then for his service. I told him thank u, and walked away. Would never recommend Kizl's. Bottom line-we all decided to go to Oasis. It was great at Oasis. The owner of Kizl's did...
Read moreAll waitstaff were wearing masks but no gloves. The cooks were only wearing gloves but no masks. When I asked are they supposed to be wearing masks I was told they should but the owner/ manager (who I asked for) was not there and basically they may not listen. You can eat inside or outside. The set up looks nice. A friend of mine really wanted to eat inside so against my better judgement we did. If you are working with food & beverages and you have fake or long nails you should be wearing gloves or washing your hands frequently and avoid putting your fingers & nails on the rim of the coffee cup. You should not touch your hair then touch anything I need to put in my mouth. I ordered a garden omelette with feta cheese, a pancake, home fries & toast. My omelette came with American cheese not feta cheese. The waitress offered to have another one prepared but I declined. I decided to eat it until I found a little piece of sausage in it. I don't eat meat so this was no good. The home fries were the worst I have ever had and had pieces of sprouts ( looked like a little stick) mixed in with them. I double checked with my friend and hers had similar but smaller pieces. The food was flavorless and very bland. I ate my pancake which was really what I had wanted. It was a nice size. The wheat toast with strawberry jelly was the best part of my meal. The coffee was watery. The waitress removed my meal from the bill which was very nice. We left her a tip because it was not her fault. The waitresses were attentive to all their customers. Maybe this restaurant does better with other meals besides breakfast. Based on my experience I would not recommend to eat breakfast there. When I got home I told my kids where I ate. I did not mention my experience. They asked me why did I eat there because the food is terrible. I wish I could say more positive things. This restaurant has been around for years, so this was surprising. I'm certain they...
Read moreFirst time there after passing it for years. Looked online and photos of inside looked like it was in decent shape for being there so long. We were seated and I proceeded to the ladies room and walked into a disgusting mess. The floor was covered in murky water leaking from the bottom of the toilet and there were dirty saturated paper towels surrounding the base. There was no toilet paper and when I went to wash my hands, there was no soap and no paper towels. The sign over the sink said staff must wash hands, but that would be without soap? I’m sure staff must use the bathroom at some point during the day and obviously don’t have proper supplies to clean their hands and then they serve the customers? Back at the table, our sweet young waitress puts down our utensils wrapped and secured in a napkin. We open them and each knife from a separate bundle had food smeared on it. Out of two forks, there was one that had left over food stuck between the tines. I told the waitress about the bathroom and she said, “Oh, that always leaks like that”, and then showed her the silverware and said we were leaving. She apologized, but of course, we told her it was not her fault. I’m wondering if there is a health inspector in Southington and why they would pass the restaurant with toilet water constantly flooding the bathroom floor, and people having to walk through it and not considering that a health hazard since, according to staff, it is a daily occurrence, and why the owners can’t call a plumber and fix the issue. Shame on the owners and Health inspectors for not caring enough about the potential health hazards in that deplorable bathroom and not making sure their dinnerware is properly sanitized. I can’t imagine what other hazards are lurking in...
