Toast on Hill has the potential to be a charming neighborhood breakfast spot, but poor organization and a locals-first culture make it a frustrating experience for new or out-of-town visitors.
The restaurant operates on a “seat yourself” system, which might work in theory, but in practice creates confusion and chaos. There’s no host or staff member to guide customers, and during busy hours, newcomers are left wandering the floor trying to figure out if a table is available or just left dirty. Often, diners are forced to clean their own tables or wait an uncomfortable amount of time for staff to clear and reset them.
The service feels heavily skewed toward regulars. Locals are greeted warmly and served quickly, while others wait noticeably longer to be acknowledged, let alone served. This uneven treatment is hard to ignore and makes the environment feel unwelcoming to outsiders.
Toast on Hill may offer decent food, but the disorganized system and lack of hospitality leave a sour taste. Until management makes some much-needed improvements in structure and service equality, it’s hard to recommend this spot to anyone but the...
Read moreBefore this morning I would have given all five stars. Went there for breakfast as we usually do.When I'm in the lakes area The sausage patties did not taste the same. They were something completely different than what they normally are/ they were burnt past the point of wanting to eat them. One side was cooked right and the other side was burnt charred black as ever. I will try it again and if I have another bad experience we might have to find somewhere else to have our breakfast. On the positive side, the service was fantastic. The servers were working their butts off. They did a very good job 👍
New update to the above post . I thought I would try breakfast at this restaurant again yesterday. 5/3/2024 The server was very pleasant and attentive, she gets 5 stars. The hash browns were so burnt I could not eat them. If I could give the cook that made the hash browns a negative star rating I sure would. I can not believe the cook even thought about serving those. Sadly We will find another restaurant to have breakfast at when in the lakes area. 2 strikes...
Read moreWent here for breakfast because people kept saying it was great. It was anything but. Our waitress was extremely rude, we almost left. Food came out, my hasbrowns were burnt and so solid you could literally pick them up and nothing fell apart. The waitress heard me mention it to my husband and instead of asking about it, she had the kitchen make new ones. (She just brought it out, set it down, sneared at us and mentioned about me complaining and walked away), But those ones were cold and uncooked. So either you get burnt food, or raw food. The Biscuits and gravy were dense and more like flavorless cake with bitter sausage gravy. Not sure how you get bitter sausage but it's terrible and ruined everything it touched. Seriously one of the WORST breakfasts we've ever had in food and bad service. Will never go back and wouldn't...
