This is the first time I've felt like giving a standing ovation after a meal! I choose the Prime Rib served with au jus and horseradish cream and the Super Spud. My partner had the Barbecued Berkshire Pork Coppa. Then for dessert, we shared the puffed pastry surprise. Every bite of the dinner was delicious. The prime rib melted in my mouth. After a few bites of the potato, I pulled the dish closer to investigate the layers of flavor. It was masterfully constructed!
My suggestions: Don't call the puffed pastry a surprise! That dessert is to die for! If you tell guests what is in that pastry...they will want it! Also, the couple at the table next to us couldn't read the tiny, light colored font on the menu. When they saw the meals we had chosen, they told us they would have loved to have been able to see all the options on the menu.
No one should miss this dining...
Read moreWe went there on the weekend of Oct 23 and camped and ate at the restaurant. The campground is a new place still some under construction but it is a very nice place to relax and enjoy a weekend getaway. The restaurant itself was very nice but the food was just awful. A couple of us ordered the Barbequed Berkshire Pork Coppa and it was cold, the plate was not even warm. Also ordered The Super Spud, and it super sucked as well. It was covered completely up with a cheese sauce? and that was to hide the fact the it was burnt and you couldn't eat the skin because it was like leather. To also comment about the Super spud is was super cold as well. So if I am giving a 3 star review for this place, had the food been better I would have given in 5 stars. All in all I will return to the campground but I doubt I will to go back to...
Read moreCame here with my wife and small group of friends on a Saturday at 6:30; a beautiful, smaller, intimate ski lodge feel. It was fairly full, but no crowded feeling. Our waitress was fantastic, very attentive with drinks, and making sure we had what we needed. Appetizer (cheese curd bread) was very good, and didn’t take too long. Food came out in a timely enough manner. The prime rib was absolutely top-notch, and the twice-baked potato was unlike any I have had before. This is a must-try place if you live in central Illinois, or are in town visiting. Pricing felt right for the quality of food and drink. Appetizer may have been slightly over what I’d pay for again, but altogether, We look forward...
