There are so few places to eat in Spring Green that somehow this one got rated as #1. We ate lunch there on a Tuesday when it wasn't very crowded. We were told at the counter that we couldn't take a table until we had ordered, so we stood at the counter reading the menu. We each ordered half sandwiches with a cup of soup for $8.99, plus one lemonade at $2.29. Then we took a table and sat down. A while later, our food was delivered. The soup was just OK, and the half sandwiches measured around 2" x2-1/2" and consisted of a tablespoon of low-grade tuna salad on rock hard ciabatta bread with a thin half slice of tomato and a few pieces of confetti that were apparently lettuce, plus a thin slice of cheese draped over the innards and hanging well outside the tiny ciabatta. These couldn't be eaten as sandwiches due to the hardness of the bread, so we deconstructed them and ate what we could. The lemonade consisted of around 50 ice cubes and possibly a half cup of lemonade. We escaped for around $24, and I realized I was still hungry! I have never received such stingy portions for the price. The items for sale around the store were also heartily overpriced. Apparently this is one of those places called a "tourist trap." Good luck if you go there on a weekend. You have to fight your way in and out, which just seems wrong on so many levels. Oh yeah, I forgot - you have to bus...
Read moreSeriously one of the best breakfasts ever. Had home fries, scrambled eggs, and blueberry and pecan pancakes. Stabbing the potatoes I thought they were going to be undercooked, but they were amazing; it must have been the potato choice. They were perfectly cooked and delightful. The eggs were also perfectly cooked and had herbs/chives or something in them giving them great flavor. The pancakes were the singularly best pancakes I’ve ever had. If you want pancakes with some toppings, these ARENT FOR YOU. The pancakes are about 25% toppings baked into the cakes. It was amazing how many blueberries and pecans they give you. They aren’t skimpy with their ingredients or portion sizes. The staff is super friendly. It’s 45 minutes from me but I will certainly go out of my way to go back.
Their general store has a great assortment of textiles, kitchenware, and puzzles and games. Great collection of Charley...
Read moreThe fare offered was great & as served, very, very tasty! They offer vegetarian fare which was exactly what we wanted. I had the potato soup & veggie wrap, my paramour had the mushroom soup & another veggie sandwich. We also had Lake Louie beers, a local favorite - & a must because we were dining with none other than Lake Louie himself, Tom Porter. The service was perfunctory but the owner came over to ask how everything was which was a welcoming touch. The interior was quaint & certainly reminiscent of an old General Store. They have music festivals periodically in the warmer months & if I'm in the area, I would definitely drive out to enjoy & eat their delicious...
