Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Our first time here and wanted to check it out based from word of mouth. Seated quickly and server took our drink orders. I had a Bloody Maria after inquiring what the difference was between that and a Mary (tequila instead of vodka). Quite good actually. Probably a new preference.
My food order was something called a Capricious Goat. Egg omelette with goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, and arugula. Served with home fries. It was a plateful. Nice mix of flavors. And the goat cheese was local.
Hubby got the pretzel bread which came with beer cheese and apple slices. The bread was very interesting and reminded me of dense cornbread. The cheese was also quite different from what we were used to. To me it had an almost pimento spread type vibe. Cold with just a touch of heat.
Hubby's other small plate was the beef empanada. Two generous sized pieces with a roja sauce for dipping. Golden brown with a very well seasoned filling.
I spied their blackboard on the wall with posted drinks and desserts and my eyes lit up when I saw banoffee pie listed. Since this is something I've always been curious about, we decided to share a slice. The presentation as it was carried to our table was impressive! There it sat on it's own little pedestal. The pie itself was very eye appealing. First bite you could tell it was ooey gooey good with all that caramel. The sliced bananas were just right and that crust was amazing too. Very rich dessert and I'm glad we tried it.
Service was outstanding. Now I know why this is a popular place. Looking forward...
Read moreJust ordered Takeout for the first time since they've re-opened. We were hoping it was going to be at least somewhere CLOSE to as good as it was before they closed and changed hands. We live close by and the food there was always consistently good... Well, allow me to say that we were BLOWN AWAY by the textures and delicious flavors in our meal. We both got the Fried Chicken breast sandwich with lettuce tomatoes, a honey drizzle and a Delicious heaping of crispy apple-slaw that was out of this world. The chicken breast was perfectly sized and perfectly crunchy and paired nicely in flavor with the other toppings. We upgraded to the fries and although they were a little heavy on the salt, they were perfectly crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. We also got the Fried pickles and as of this moment, My personal ranking for their take on this hit-or-miss dish... is at the very Top of my list. The texture was amazing...and the flavor was spicy and savory and the actual breading was unlike any I've ever had on a fried pickle before. Really delicious. Also the Chipotle Ranch dipping sauce that came with it paired very nicely. All in all.. Well Done, I say! We will definitely be telling our friends to stop in for a meal. P.s. The Lemon Pie dessert looks amazing and is currently sitting in our fridge singing it's sweet siren-song to us as I type this. Don't think we can resist it...
Read moreWowzers! I am so satisfied after my lunch at the newly re-opened Red Horse Tavern. Everything, from the mocktails to dessert, was absolutely delicious. We tried the Pineapple Mule and Blackberry Lime fizz from the mocktail list. Both were so refreshing. Can’t wait til they get their liquor license settled and can serve alcohol—I’m sure the cocktails will be equally delightful!
In all honesty, I wanted to try one of everything on the menu! Some of the highlights from our lunch: Tavern Street Corn (so fresh), Watermelon Arugula Salad (with burrata cheese and pickled watermelon rind—yum!), the Honey Haute Chicken Sandwich (with the fried chicken option) and (oh my stars!) the Banoffee Pie. Everything was outstanding with lots of flavor and unique twists that makes me excited to come back and try more menu items.
Service was very personable and the dining room updates add nice color and personality to the space. Wishing the new owners lots of success. They’ll certainly be seeing me again soon. The photos will never do the flavors justice, and I completely forgot to get a photo of the Street Corn before I...
