The service was excellent, and the atmosphere leaves more to be desired, but there is potential. The service earned the 3rd star because if it was just about the food, I would have to give this place a 2. First off, the Ribeye was thinner than any cut I have seen, which tells me it's a less expensive cut for the restaurant cost. That's fine because you pay by the weight. What was disappointing was nothing had flavor. My wife had to salt her steak, which she never does when we go out because you simply don't need to normally. My fish was not fried to my liking... it was not crispy at all. Now, anyone who has ever had fried fish at a restaurant knows that the breading or batter needs to be seasoned and crispy. The staff did their best. The chef made a new piece of fish (I took to go) and made sure it was fried right... but still absolutely no flavor. Just a giant piece of fish and no real taste. I was very disappointed. My wife was disappointed. The only good thing was the loaded potato balls. I do not recommend... but if you do eat here, stick with appetizers and sandwiches. I feel if I had just gotten a bacon burger I would have been better off because even if the meat wasn't seasoned, all the other stuff on the burger would provide flavor. I probably will not return.

I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich. The Parmesan Risotto and the Strawberry Whiskey Smash. My husband had the Rodeo Burger and fries. We also had the hot chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel and chocolate drizzle. (No picture) The bacon is thick and smoky, great taste, but no crispness. The chicken was tender and not dry. The batter was light, which was nice. I really dislike having chicken with over powering batter or breading on it. Then spending half my dinner taking it apart. The Risotto was flat tasting. I added salt and it was much better. Just as a side note, I am not the biggest fan of salt. The strawberry in the drink was so smashed up that I wondered if I needed a strainer to drink it. I wished it was more whiskey, less sugar. But that's my preference. It was very sweet. My husband wanted the bacon to be crisp at least a little. He thought it would have made the sandwich more enjoyable. The hot chocolate cake was great. It's not a thick piece, but approximately 5" in length. It had 4 small scoops of ice cream with chocolate and caramel drizzle. Plenty for sharing. The restaurant was cold. I heard others complain about the temperature also. We had to wear our jackets.

This is my first visit to the Iron Grill. I love it when you have a fantastic experience the first time. The place was great at open and comfortable decorating. Wood and Iron mix and make it somehow casually fancy. It was spotlessly clean and fresh. No dust bunnies survived anywhere here. I would call this the perfect Pandemic example of how to clean a restaurant. Then the service. Attention is exactly as needed. Refills show up like out of the blue just before they’re needed. We never had to wait for any thing. It was as if the team working knew that we had a need before we did. The food. Wow. Great menu. Fresh. Unusually perfect sour kraut balls. Flavors of homemade salad dressings were-spot on. Greens were fresh and crispy. Steak and Chicken were well seasoned and prepared. I am definitely going back and absolutely recommend this place.

Dont let the calamari, crab cakes or steak selections fool you.

Any restaurant can offer a wedge salad, grouper and Parmesan truffle fries on their menu. It is all about delivery.

We patronized the local bar/grill after a school event tonight thinking we would maybe find a diamond in the rough in our home town of springfield.... WRONG.

Pros...

Sat immediately as they were dead at 7:30, bathrooms were clean and the bar presentation was nice. Probably a good place to have a drink ONLY and that is if the service is exponentially better.

Cons...

I would say "Chef" but in this case "line cook" is more appropriate. Burger ordered Med Well came out Med Rare. When asked politely to put it back on to Med Well they took it back immediately (10 Minutes later when we were able to break our waiters conversation with friends of his on their way out the door) and brought it back in 90 seconds, I kid you not, and it was cooked all the way. The waiter had promised a "new burger" but when it came back out it was cut in half, the same way we cut it to check doneness and we were told the cook wanted to check to make sure it was right. What really happened here was they threw it in the microwave for a minute to get it all the way done and sent it back out. You could tell by how scolding hot the interior of the burger was. Our waiter was a liar. Service and food delivery very slow. Forgot dinner salad before rest of the meal, forgot on the side condiments that were requested at time of order. Long story short, save your money. We wont waste our time again but may not have to worry as quality is king and i feel this place will be out of business inside...

Food is usually pretty good but they need an experienced restaurant manager to take control of both ends of the house - almost every time I've been here service is super slow, with the kitchen taking an equally long time to finish orders. The waiter/waitress is usually prompt right after you're seated but will disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time, usually standing at the bar chatting with other servers or the bartender. Tonight we ordered drinks and our server didn't come back for 15 minutes, only to tell me they couldn't pour the draft beer I ordered due to a problem with the keg.

It was another 10 minutes before my second choice arrived, and then 15 minutes after that the salads we had ordered finally came out - 25 minutes after ordering them. Entrées arrived 40 minutes after ordering, and while the fish special was done well the portion sizes were way off - a huge plate of fries, easily enough for two people - with three tiny pieces of fish that put together might be enough for a lunch sized fish sandwich.

Given how common the complaint about slow service is in reviews I wonder if the owner reads them, or if they do if they heed what reviewers are saying. I really want to like this place, as good non-chain restaurants are increasingly hard to find, but it's getting harder and harder to justify...

I ordered my food to go at roughly 12:10pm. I was told 30 mins. I showed up around 12:30 because I like my food at its freshest possible. I had about a 6 mins drive back to work.

There were 2 waitresses with a few customers. They were working hard, getting the food out to patrons as it became available. All of the food was looking good as well as smelling good.

As I said before, I would have been getting back to work. I ordered A bacon cheeseburger with fries. And also ordered wings for a coworker. When I got there at 12:30, my food was up, just waiting on the wings. Here we are at 1:05pm still haven't seen the wings. My food sitting overthrew getting cold. Not even under the hotlamps because other food was coming .

The kicker is that a short guy. With a bald head came from outside. He started touching food and putting plates in the pickup window without washing his hands or anything. I'm sure he worked there, but wasn't at work at the moment. Probably an owner or something. But anyways.... I'm still waiting for my food. He comes in does a bit of unsanitary work in the covid era and gets his own food sits down and eats.

Needless to say that can't give a testimonial of the food. Because I just stood up and walked out. His food did look like it was...
