We were long standing patrons of Swarthmore Pizza, however, our last visit left much to be desired. We decided to give it one more try. I'm so disappointed; portions have been cut in half, salads were sad with the packet of dressing folded up under the lettuce to make it look like more, pasta wasn't drained, musselss were like rubber... Plenty of other places in the area to get good takeout, I won't be returning to Swarthmore Pizza.

Swarthmore Pizza, Swarthmore PA. I was feeling nostalgic so I went to Swarthmore Pizza. Ironically when we lived in Swarthmore we never went to Swarthmore Pizza. The reviews on google maps weren’t great and I saw they had Cheesesteak egg rolls on their lunch menu. I asked if they still could make them and they said, yes. That was the high point of my visit to Swarthmore Pizza.

The brick oven pizza was horrible! The normal pizz was better good. The wings are good! The cheesesteak eggs were so Soggy in the plastic bin. They should just put them in one of those paper bags the chinese restaurant use. Who cares about the lettuce and stuff!

Placed an order to be picked up around 4pm. I’m gluten free so I am very specific when ordering food so that it’s not contaminated with other items that might contain gluten. I ordered their chicken salad special which was chicken salad with cranberries and came with sweet potatoe fries. I was told on the phone that they could not accommodate sweet potatoe fries after lunch so instead they offered me regular French fries. I was sick so I didn’t wanna go into the store to get my food and sent my 15 year old son in to pay for it. He came right out to the car. I always check my order before driving away and notice no fries in the bag. I told my son to go back in and let them know. He then came back out and said they needed to look through the bag??? Like what? My son went back in with the bag and was so embarrassed with everyone staring at him as if we were lying and trying to get free food or something. Then I also noticed that the chicken salad had no cranberries either. The manager proceeded to come out to the car and instead of apologizing just said oh there must have been a miscommunication....where was the miscommunication? I was extremely specific and detailed about the order...my receipt even indicated fries. When I asked the manager about the chicken salad I said this isn’t what I ordered he said he’d give me a cup of cranberries on the side to add to the chicken salad instead of fixing it and making it right. As far as I’m concerned I received poor customer service all around. I won’t be ordering from here anymore....

I barely feel they deserve a 3 star review.

They can be a fun place to eat in but they at least one low business practice. I ordered for take out and when I went to pay they quoted an amount higher than I expected.

I said hold up, as the guy ringing it up was rushing. I said how much was each item, it was a 16" pizza with an added topping. Turns out they don't disclose they are charging a "credit card convenience fee".

Legally they have to disclose that, and they failed to do that. When I said no, it wasn't ok to charge me "a credit card fee" he said "It is ok, it's already been charged".

Like they get to decide what is ok with us, the customer. I said no, cancel the credit card and take my cash.

He had a noticable attitude about doing it, also explaining the %6 sales tax. I know there is tax, I'm not new to area. He wanted to make it as though I didn't understand Pennsylvania, and show'd annoyance when I said it wasn't the tax it was the undisclosed, and legally supposed to be disclosed, fee that throws question when you hear what you are being charged.

Things like this make someone see how bad a business is, and lose trust in them.

We just bought a bed and when asked if credit or debit when giving a debit card, we asked which was better for them, but even on a large purchase the manager said it would save them money if we did debit, but it was ok with them either way. And that would have been a real fee for them, we said debit.

Shame places do business and treat people this way, look...

I’ve been a loyal SP customer for years. Eating in and taking out on a fairly regular basis. I recently tried to order a large specialty pizza. It comes with 5 toppings. I asked for green peppers 2. Onions 3. Sausage Pepperoni 5. Olives. I asked if the olives could be put on half of the pizza because my wife doesn’t like olives. This is a request that has been done many times before. They’re saving half the amount of olives. I’m told by the young lady on the phone that we can’t do half toppings on a special pizza. She then asked someone else and they told her no. It’s not like I asked for half olives and then asked for a 6th topping on the other side. People are so short sided. I cancelled my order and unfortunately I will never eat there again. I will also share my experience with my personal and professional networks.

Update: 10Mar20

Just order the Tower Pizza special pizza. It has all the toppings as SP but it adds ground beef and mushrooms. I asked if I could get olives instead of ground beef and the said no problem. Oh and they also put them on half of the pizza for me. Thanks Tower Pizza. You should check them out. The customer service is way...
