TAKE YOUR LIFE IN YOUR HANDS HERE!!!!!!!!!! Went there Saturday with 3 friends doing what we do a couple of times a week to help support local eateries at this difficult time. We walked in the door and couldn't believe what we were seeing. Some sort of event or party going on. The place was packed - and I mean PACKED! Every table was full and people were standing almost shoulder to shoulder front to back. Everyone was drinking and didn't see anyone eating. I looked around and virtually NOBODY WAS WEARING A MASK!!! NO SOCIAL DISTANCING!! NO CONTROL OVER CUSTOMERS!! The music was blaring and there were gaggles of people drinking right up against the bar. A person about 3 feet away was VAPING and exhaled a big cloud of potentially COVID laden mist right in our faces. So much for no standing at the bar and operating at 40% of capacity. Should have realized something was up when the regular lot was full and the huge side lot had about 70 cars in it. Do simple math on that and I'd bet they were over capacity NON-COVID!! We got the hell out of there as fast as we could!! What an utterly irresponsible way to see a business operate in the midst of a raging pandemic. I don't care if they gave me free food for a year I will never set foot in this place again unless it has a complete change of ownership. Seeing how costly it is for other reputable establishments and how hard they are working to do the right thing and comply with safety regulations to keep the clientele and staff safe it was surreal to see how the IDIOT management would be so cavalier and flaunt the rules like it was just another night out to party. Doesn't say too much about the quality of the clientele either. If there was one person with COVID there - and there likely was - this will probably be a super spreader event One can only hope that the dolts that were there don't infect innocent people. But they probably will - SAD!! There are way too many good responsible establishments to patronize and nobody should condone such abject disregard for common sense health and safety protocols. If they act like this in the open I can only imagine what goes on in the kitchen that we can't see!!! I regret not calling the police and the Board of Health. BYE...
Read moreWe used to go here at least once a week when we lived in the area seven years ago. Out of nostalgia and a hunger for good Portuguese food we decided to go today (August 28th). When we walked through the door I noticed that the lights were off in the resteraunt portion of Solmar, I thought it was strange but I was willing to ignore it for a good meal. After we had sat down the waitress came over and curtly asked us if we wanted menus or if we were having the buffet. I thought she was a bit rude but it's a home style diner-ish kind of place and she had five other tables to take care of so I let it go. When it came time to order I ordered shrimp a casa. She looked at me like a deer in the headlights, so I preceded to open the menu and show her the meal I wanted to order. And she said oh, shrimp and rice. I said no that was arroz de camarão (which was the dish just above what I wanted and priced differently). She said ok and went to put the order in. I wondered what I was going to get for a meal thinking that this wasn't going to go my way. I had high hopes anyway, sat, and waited. A full half-hour later my lunch came out and it was Arroz de camarão, which was, as I'd previously shown her, not what I had ordered. The waitress came back to check and she flat out said you don't want it? She then decided to argue with me about what I ordered. At this point I had had enough, we hadn't eaten anything and all we had to drink was water because she never came back to take our drink order. We decided to leave, and I'll never be back. Do yourself a favor, if you want Portuguese food go down the to Primavera in Ludlow, The Red Fez in Chicopee, or anywhere else really, don't waste...
Read moreWent there tonight for Valentines Day.. I've had their food multiple times but it was always take out. I love it, its so good.. but went there for the first time ever. Made reservations for 6pm.. got there, was seated, ordered drinks then ordered our dinners within a 5 minute window of time. Dinner comes with soup or salad... waitress never asked us which one we wanted. Never even mentioned them... 20 minutes later a group of 6 or 7 come in.. they order their food and drinks. 15 minutes later their appetizers come out... we still haven't gotten our food yet. 15 more minutes go by... no waitress, no food. Nothing. Finally called a guy over that was serving the group their food and told him we had gotten here 20 min. before that group.. they're already getting their appetizers.. where's our food?! He goes in the back, comes out.. asked us what we ordered.. goes back in the kitchen, comes out... then asks us what we wanted for sides?!?!?! 50 MINUTES LATER AND OUR FOOD WASNT EVEN STARTED. I don't know if the waitress didn't tell the chefs or the chefs had our ticket the entire time and was just messing around and didn't care but you have got to be kidding me... We ended up just leaving. No one cared at all... no sorry, nothing. The guy just walked away from us.. if I can give this place a zero or negative 100 I would. Terrible service... down right appalling. My husband tried to take me out on Valentines Day and regrettably I picked this place of all places and this happens on my first visit. They should be ashamed of...
