Newellstown Diner — Restaurant in St. Clairsville

I've been to Newellstown several times over the last few years. I love the atmosphere of an old diner, and I want so much to love and support it, but I'm usually disappointed. We all go out to eat for the food. Breakfast is okay, but any time I've ordered lunch or dinner food, it's not been good. I ordered wings there the other night, and they were overcooked and tasted terrible. I hoped it was just my batch, but the ones I bought for my boyfriend were the same. Burgers have been passable. I love breakfast sandwiches, and they did have good ones. But the last few times I've gotten them, the eggs either weren't cooked fully, or the English muffins were dry/old, something.

The service is also strange. Again, it's a rag-tag team, which is fine in theory, but it's clear the staff are untrained. They don't know how to make certain things. They don't always know what is supposed to come with your order. I didn't get the drink I paid for the other day (but I said heck with it, I was just ready to leave). One time, I asked for a milkshake. The girl was real nice, but no one had taught her to make a milkshake. It was a cool experience because I stood at the counter, and led her through making a milkshake. She was awesome, but why is the staff not trained to make drinks? If you sit outside, sometimes they don't come out to take your order. The staff seems very social and chatty with certain people, probably friends or regulars? And they seem to prioritize those folks. I've never had anyone be rude or anything, they're nice. It's just not very professional, and the...

Ok. I friggin love pancakes, ok? Every time I go anywhere I get pancakes cuz they make me happy.

I have traveled the country. I have eaten pancakes everywhere. Every. Where. Hawaii. They have pancakes. So does New York in time square. They make em there too. But.

THIS PLACE, the Newellwtown Diner, has the best pancake I have ever had. It is the best pancake on planet earth. Go to this place. If they say, “hey do you want the eggs or omelette” or whatever, you say, “bring me those pancakes that man on the internet told me about.” They will say ok, assuming they are not sold out of the best pancake ever.

Then, you will eat the best pancake ever in St Clairesville and you will wonder why this place isn’t the capital of The USA. You’ll wonder why anyone would go anywhere else for pancakes who lives in a 3 hour radius. You’ll think of all the fun times you had as a kid and will also believe that no time is better than right now because of, you guessed it, the pancake you are eating right now.

Go get these pancakes. Go. Get them. Gogetthem Go.

Also, bring a friend. They will become a better friend. Like bring a middle of the road friend with whom you have a good but not yet fully developed relationship yet. Bank your reputation on this pancake. Your relationship will go from good to great.

I wish I could leave an actual review of this place, but I can’t. I went in on my lunch break and seated myself at a table in the middle of the diner. 2 waitresses were at the counter. After sitting there for sometime without a menu or even being acknowledged, I realized that two men had came in and sat at the table directly behind me and the waitress immediately came over and took their drink orders. I began to think that maybe I should have grabbed my own menu on the way in, but no, this is a normal restaurant where they give you your menu.
