Where to start. Some positives, the outdoor seating area is nice under a large oak tree with plenty of fans and water misters. The menu has a wide assortment of items to choose from. Here is where the upsides end. Service wasn't great with only 4 tables taken in the outdoor seating and 10 mins to finally get some waters. The food was disappointing. The wife ordered fried catfish and shrimp that was just seafood and breading. While it was a good crispy, it lacked flavor which isn't southern. I ordered the shrimp, crawfish, andouille pasta. Sauce was spiced water, no consistency. The sausage was kiebasa sausage, not andouille... For the price of 20-30 per person you would hope for authentic food but it's just sadness. Don't recommend, sadly Popeyes have more Louisiana charm than this southern eatery in the heart of the south. Update, came back again to give it another shot. They started adding andouille to the meals. Good job, one step closer to a Cajun meal. Now to just add more than one green onion to a pot of sauce(pic is the one chopped green onion I found). Had a 1792 bourbon and was more ice than bourbon which is a sacrilege in at least 7 religions. But ok, I get times are hard and good bartenders are few and far between. The Francis Burger my fiance ordered came with just meat and bread, no toppings? Friends blackened chicken on brioche and just cooked chicken on poboy bread. Guys, this isn't complicated. The meals are simple and the prices are priced as if you have no competition...which you don't. Could at least try. I tried, best of luck to whomever tries this place.

A Taste of Louisiana at Its Finest I recently visited The Francis in St. Francisville, Louisiana, and it was an absolutely stellar dining experience! From start to finish, every bite was packed with flavor and showcased the best of Southern cooking with a creative twist. We kicked things off with The Francis Fancy Fries—a mountain of crispy fries loaded with pulled pork, bacon, melted cheese, and rich brown gravy. It was indulgent, hearty, and perfect for sharing. The fried eggplant with marinara was another appetizer standout—perfectly fried, tender on the inside, with a marinara sauce that had just the right balance of tanginess and spice. For the main course, I tried the country fried ribeye paired with a side of red beans and rice. The ribeye was cooked to perfection—crispy, flavorful, and seasoned beautifully. But the real star was the red beans and rice, which rivaled any I’ve had in Louisiana. It was soulful, comforting, and the perfect complement to the ribeye. We wrapped up the meal with their bread pudding, topped with a decadent white mocha sauce. I don’t think I’ll ever look at bread pudding the same way again—this dessert was next-level delicious, balancing sweetness and richness perfectly. The Francis offers incredible food, warm hospitality, and a true taste of Louisiana in a cozy, charming setting. If you’re in St. Francisville, this is a must-visit spot. I can’t recommend it enough—everything we tried was phenomenal, but that fried ribeye and red beans? Pure magic. Five stars!

Camping for the weekend in the area ( from Ponchatoula) and ate here for lunch 3/2/24. I have to say, we’re still talking about this place. We can’t remember the last time we were so impressed with a restaurant. The service & the food!! The atmosphere was great- indoors & outdoor patio with the huge shady oak tree... The service was spectacular. We were greeted very warmly by the hostess, and served by Macy. She was so nice, answered all questions, and never had us waiting long. She even got busy with large tables & never missed a beat with us. Food came quick too…& was GREAT! The jacked up hamburger steak (didn’t know this was needed but is a must), spinach & shrimp dip, crab cakes (some of the best I’ve had) and white chocolate bread pudding for dessert, DELICIOUS !!🤌🏼🤌🏼I recommend them ALL. Also, we had various servers/bus boys periodically clear our table, ask if we needed a bag on the way out, told us bye & thanks. Multiple employees…5star service. We’re eating there again on our way out tomorrow.

The Francis brings rustic, casual, and rural styles together for a warm, comforting, and welcoming atmosphere. When entering the property, it may be hard to find a parking spot due to how busy the location is, but when you find one, the adventure begins. Take a few steps toward the doors and you will find a beautiful wooden patio with a large tree in the middle. This tree has pleasant hanging lights making it easy to see. You will also find beautiful iron patio furniture for a peaceful low-lit experience and a path that leads to the main entrance of the building. As you enter the building you will see large wooden beams, large, exquisitely etched glass windows, and rustic wrought iron decorations throughout. If you would like a peaceful dinner, you may ask for a table upstairs or on the patio but if you want a casual, fun, and exciting experience, the bar area is to the left. The soft warm lights and televisions give an aesthetically pleasing impression of being home. The bar itself is lit up with many bright lights showing each bottle clearly for easy selection whilst each table has plenty of room between them for any occasion. If you do choose to be seated upstairs, you can expect a more modern family atmosphere. You may see families with small children, bright lights, and a smaller outdoor terrace. No matter your preference, there are accommodations available for everyone ensuring a unique, diverse, and welcoming atmosphere for all. With a wide variety of food options, choosing the right meal to satisfy your palate may be difficult, but with each item on the menu, your mouth will begin watering as you read the description. Each item, from appetizers to desserts, has a unique take on southern homestyle cooking from seafood to barbeque, and salads to desserts. Each menu item has an in-depth dish description to ensure you decide exactly what you want. If you are in the mood for an appetizer, 14 items may pique your interest, from frog legs to buffalo wings. y. Although the appetizers may be delicious, the entrees are the "star of the show." Between seafood platters, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, gumbo, soups, and steaks, you may find it very hard to find a meal. Each item on the menu is described in detail, leading you to find the right choice. With a 4.6-star rating, a warm and inviting atmosphere, excellent food, and outstanding service, The Francis is a must-go restaurant if you want a different type of southern-style cooking. The love shown by its community establishes the inviting aspect and comfort that families, couples, and friends can have during their adventure. Picking a restaurant for a Friday night date, a business meeting, or a family gathering may be challenging but The Francis has made a welcoming environment for all. The drive may be long to get there, and it may be hard to find parking, but the experience you will have could forever change your view on southern homestyle cooking along the...

Upon getting there, we waited a short period before being seated. We are 2 adults and 5 young children. We were seated upstairs. It was nice and pleasant at first. We placed our drink order and food order. About 5-10 minutes from placing food order, the hostess brings up a very large group of about 15-18 people, and I see them talking and pointing at our table. This large party wanted to sit together, but the only tables open were the tables on both sides of us (we were in the middle). Well, we kept getting looks from these people, and then they agreed to sit at the separate tables. About 10 minutes later, our food was brought to us but no silverware. Our waiter was dealing with the large party who seemed not happy that they weren't sitting together. My husband had to go downstairs and find someone to get us silverware. Then we needed refills, but once again, we had no waiter, so my husband had to get up and fill our own drinks. While eating, we can see people from this large group staring us down talking to one another about how they have to wait for us to leave to sit together... MAKING US FEEL RUSHED & UNCOMFORTABLE. We finished eating, got the check, and paid. We know as a large family we would have to pay gratuity BUT to pay $25 gratuity for NO SERVICE FROM OUR WAITER was very upsetting, I'd rather my money have gone to the guy who fetched us silverware when he wasn't even a waiter!! We spent $140 to have a family dinner out, something we rarely get to do, only to feel extremely rushed by the hostess and other customers that the hostess placed sitting next to us just waiting for us to hurry, eat, and leave without being able to enjoy ourselves, our meal, or the money we wasted going to this place! It was definitely not an enjoyable night for us, and I feel that it was very unprofessional to seat a 'waiting' party next to paying customers to make them feel like they have to rush their meal so they can...

I received the worst service ever here. And I’ve gotten some bad service at restaurants. Things started okay, we got our drinks and appetizers ordered. Then our server didn’t come back to check on us for like 20 minutes. Then when she did it was telling us that our appetizers would be out soon.we get our appetizers. Then another 15-20 minutes go by and we still haven’t gotten our order taken. Finally we get her attention to put in an order for the baby that was with us because he was getting super hungry, and our server still doesn’t take our order. Our server comes back 10 minutes later with fries and puts them on our table. She walks away the baby touches them and then she comes back and takes them away and says that they weren’t our fries and gives them to the table next to us. She comes back and finally takes our order. Then we don’t get our food for another 30 minutes, which okay whatever. When we get our food it isn’t our server bringing it to us and we don’t see her around anywhere for another 30 minutes and when we do she completely ignores our table. By this point we just want to get boxes and pay and leave. Our sever disappeared for 25 more minutes. Keep in mind she only had two tables to take care of. When she does reappear we have to holler to get her attention because she still didn’t come and check on us. She comes back and says that she’s so sorry for the service and that the least she can do it comp our drinks. When she hands the card reader to us, she hadn’t even comped our drinks. Then it automatically made us tip 18% gratuity. On the bottom of the menu it said that 20% gratuity was automatically added on groups over 6. We had 3 adults and a baby. She also forgot our side salads. We never once got refills on our drinks even after we asked for refills. It was ridiculous and we will never be...
