I am sick to my stomach after this vist. This is my 3rd visit within the last month and most definitely my LAST. I called in my ordered as usual 25 minutes from St Louis and STILL had to wait as usual. He is SO rude on the phone and never repeats the order and just hang up on you. When you get there the order is NEVER ready or correct. They want our money but doesn't feel like they have to be cordial or kind to "us". Needless to say I am from St Louis and no longer live here but whenever I am in the area I load up on "St Louis food". This time I ordered Shrimp St Paul, egg roll, 1/2 order of special fried rice with extra egg, onion, and green peppers....y'all I added my red pepper to my St Paul sandwich and ate it....it was fair but not fresh. I ate the egg roll; and again it was fair not fresh at all. YAAALLL! I opened that box of rice and it smelled like something had DIED!!!!!! It was a smell that I cant even describe. Maybe I'm just tripping...I went as far to taste it and I spit it out immediately and took it right back to them just to let them know SOMETHING in here is rotten/spoiled and no I don't want my money back or a replacement. John you all have been in business WAY too long to start taking short cuts and selling customers BAD/SPOILED/ROTTEN food. Seriously man get it together!!!! This is subpar service and food across the board. The robot response you are giving on all of the negative comments is a disgrace it shows you all do NOT care and just want "our" money. I will NEVER return! I can't get that smell...
Read morei grew up in that neighborhood and was practically raised on John's cuisine. it was typical for the owner/cashier to act rudely, though promptly, from behind the plexiglass. nobody questioned that expedient because the neighborhood was extremely rough. i'm talking ppl getting shot inside the little waiting/dining area. it seemed at the time that if John had been polite, ppl would hang out inside or in front to control the traffic in what was and still is a hotspot for gang clashes and drug dealing and robberies. every street over there, floy, mimika, era, etc, hosted rival gangs. and though most on one side of w. florissant purported to be Six-0 Crips (blue and yellow), the other side where John's restaurant was had every other type of gang and gang color, including those insufferable ones wearing blue and orange. a lot of ppl have been taken out right there on the premises over the years. as far as the food: it's standard STL chop suey, which stands out in the USA for some reason as tastier than chop sueys in other towns - and i've sampled them in 20 cities, with Philly coming in a close second and Chicago registering as third in that top tier. Los Angeles and NYC might as well shut down their operations. something is missing or...
Read moreHeard this was one of the best chinamen left in the Lou, read all the reviews and decided to make the trip. Before I could order I heard the guy tell a man in front of me that they were out of chicken wings(this was at 1in the afternoon) I should've left then, but instead I ordered shrimp fried rice with green onions only, extra egg and a chicken st paul. The wait wasn't bad, I had time to run across the street to Lee's for my wings. I decided to eat the St Paul omw home. It was cool, nothing to brag about. Got home to find a lil box filled to the top with mostly soggy light brown rice, egg and a few pieces of shrimp! The hood taste was definitely not there. I added soy sauce and red pepper to help enhance the flavor. That did not work..I ended up throwing the whole box away. Total waste of money, time and gas. Thanks but no...
