I went here with high hopes of the fried fish being delicious, despite some complaints about the service. The restaurant itself is not in the prettiest of neighborhoods but my experience as a foodie has taught me that these sorts of places are typically where some of the best culinary delights can be found.
Boy was I mistaken with this place. .
The service was terrible, the young lady at the counter had an attitude the whole time taking our order and was very impatience with us. Every comment was snappy or met with exasperation, when really all I wanted was my food. She truly left me with a bad taste in my mouth. We asked for salt packets and the cashier stated that they didn't have any, and that we wouldn't need any; that everything came seasoned with their special seasoning. Uhm, okay then.
Besides that, they didn't have the items we came for "ready" or in stock. There was no Jack fish, no steak for the philly cheese steaks, which was disappointing because the whole reason I came was for the jack. Instead I opted for the "catfish" special and my partner got the chicken philly.
When I received my food, the fish was hot and fresh yet the fries were old, as if they had been sitting while my fish was being made.
One bite into the fish and I was immediately disgusted. What I expected to be catfish was really SWAI or BASA, which is NOT THE SAME. I'm offended because she should have mentioned that the "catfish" they serve is actually SWAI, which is a "Japanese catfish" and monumentally different than the catfish I'm accustomed to. . The "seasoning" on the fried tasted like paprika. Just straight up paprika with no salt added, which made me feel like someone was trying to be funny.
All in all, this place is a HARD PASS and I wouldn't DARE waste another cent...
Read moreMothers has been THE place to go for good food for as long as I can remember. However the customer service at the Grand location is the worse that I have seen. I tried to ask questions before placing an order the service rep just over talked me answered questions that I did not have, when I called him on it he rudely explained himself and then told me " Forget it . I don't even want the money", and hung up! So I called back and a young lady answered. The lady wasn't as curt but, went to explaining that there was not a manager there for me to speak with and that the man that I had previously spoken with was the owner. I just said," Well I will call Clayton". It is pitiful that they carry a legendary name in St. Louis and obviously have no respect for that name or the ppl in the community that actually supports the businesses in this community. Way to go guys. Lets just keep sending money out of the community due to poor...
Read moreOk where do I start ….because customer service is extremely important to me I’ll start there…the young lady at the counter had a nice-nasty yet extremely non chalant representation ,the music was a little loud therefore it made it hard for me to place my order or her to hear me well. Although food prices have went up pretty much everywhere I did feel as though the cake 🍰 prices were a tad bit ridiculous (8.00 per slice )the fish I got looked as if it had been cut in half (catfish filet ) it was smaller than what I’m used to and the okra slightly under cooked. Shrimp 🍤 was ok and the fries were good. I didn’t have a long wait so that was a plus. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Not like they used to be 💯 can’t say that I’ll return to be honest. I feel like people should be welcoming when you are spending money in their establishments and not make one feel like we...
