It's alright - very average diner food. Props for the variety on the menu, though - in addition to an extensive menu of American diner fare, they have sections of Greek, Italian, and Mexican. I had Buckwheat Pancakes and an egg over-easy on the side. The pancakes were nothing fancy but the flavour of the buckwheat was very nice. I had been considering the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast but I'm glad I got the pancakes, since someone else I was eating with got the toast and the bread looked pretty thin - I think the pancakes were more substantial. Served plain with butter on the side and syrup and jelly at the table. I tried strawberry jam on one of the pancakes but I think I liked them best with just a touch of butter. The egg was oily and tasted like old oil. Once I opened up the yolk, the runny yolk mostly covered the oil taste, but it was still not the most pleasant. Based on what I saw of others' meals, the food tends to be greasy. Although I found the food underwhelming, I still have to say the prices are great value. My pancakes with the egg added were still under $10, I think all (or at least almost all) of the sandwich plates are under $15 and they include coleslaw, pickle, and a big serving of fries. Some of the dinner plates go up to $20 but it sounds like they come with a ton of food too. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a diner. They've got the neon lights and metal box construction, the long counter with retro-style seats. Our waitress and others really played into the character, calling customers "hon" and all. Our waitress was great about making sure we had everything we needed, but a few times she would get into a conversation with other staff in the middle of handing out food or drinks and stop what she was doing which was a little irritating. But they were probably busy and didn't have much chance to talk otherwise so I guess I understand. For my taste, I would choose to check out other diners rather than come here again, but I can also understand why some people love it. If you're into the diner experience and like simple greasy spoon food, this might be the place for you. If you're like me and are more interested in getting high-quality cooking, there are probably...
Read moreWhile most of the staff that works here is pleasant and nice oh, be careful if you deliver for them. I have on the record / 250 delivers for this diner and I possibly made one mess up last night in which the order was switched yet they belittle you for this. half the time I show up the GrubHub orders haven't even been submitted and you wait around for 20 to 30 minutes after the pickup time. so, they get on you saying the customer is upset because they received the wrong order but what about all those customers that wait an extra half-hour for their order because you forgot to do your job? Don't come at me thinking you're the world's greatest diner what I spend more than half my time sitting in the booth waiting for the food even though it said it should have been ready 30 minutes ago.
As for the food, highly overpriced and very oily. Very simple, minimal ingredients and less-than-stellar when it comes to overall satisfaction with my meals. maybe if you've been a patron of this diner for many years you'll continue to go, but even a lot of my own deliveries the second time around I'm bringing that same customer different diner because they refuse to order staff from this diner again.
My number one complaint about this restaurant is how one person will run around looking like a chicken with their head cut off while three people sit there and roll forks and knives. it's not that complicated to put a fork and a knife inside of a napkin and requires no more than one set of hands. Not to mention, during coronavirus isn't indoor seating and eating banned? they'll try and hide the customers within the corners of the restaurant so nobody notices.
Lastly, if you're new to the area or visiting you can also try Horizon diner or Barnegat diner right around the corner. I have no hard feelings toward this restaurant, I'm just speaking the truth in personal experience of what I've seen and what I've...
Read moreohhhh the stafford diner……me and my friends passed this place on our way to the beach. we thought it would be a good place to eat after swimming and laying in the sun for 4 hours. so that is what we did. we walk in the place, and get pushed to the side a little for the other party behind us to be sat. no big deal. well, other people walked in behind them, and were immediately greeted by (who i am assuming) the manager with a big hug and a smile, and sat right away. oh well, makes sense, we don’t know the manager. but this happened not once, not twice, but three times. it really felt like you had to know someone to get in. anyways, after about 10 minutes of standing awkwardly we were given menus to seat ourselves at this booth in the corner. hmmm….okay? we arrive to our booth and it clearly was not wiped down since we sat, since it had water rings and lettuce all over it. okay…..it did eventually get wiped down, but why send us with menus to sit ourselves at a dirty table?? well, we sat there for another 10ish minutes until our server came up to us for drinks and our food. he was nice, i have no complaints about him. the food was just alright. i got the french toast and bacon. i did ask for regular, not crispy bacon, and got reheated crispy bacon. and the cherry on top were these two men sitting by us, where one of their phone’s rang not once, not twice, but THREE times full volume alarm sound. oh and he let it rinnngggg. wish i was exaggerating. overall, not very happy about my experience at the stafford diner. but what much can you expect at a mediocre...
