The food is always terrific. Madison is a great server who is able to multi task during the heavier eating times. They have a new female server that leaves much to be desired.
I work in the retail industry and it is essential for customers to have an experience. She is not a complementary team member to delivering on a positive experience. In fact, we’ve had her as a server twice. I held off writing a review the first time but thought another mediocre experience with her was deserving of a mention. This business should thrive as a local hot spot. As mentioned the food is terrific.
The server handed us a menu upon our arrival. We then asked her what local drinks were available and she shrugs her shoulders and hands us a menu from a special event that occurred the week prior. We then asked her what she had on tap. She shrugged her shoulders and stands back so we can look for ourselves. She walks away and comes back and says, “are you ready?” We order and she walks away. Not to return until our food was delivered.
Note: During that time my water was empty and she told us our food was delayed. She then walks back to the counter and starts placing French fries into her mouth. Gross. Our order was not 100% correct but at this point just remove it off our check and we were ready to leave. The staff helped her with making the correction which I was appreciative of as she appeared new.
Another visit today and nothing has changed. Same attitude and if it wasn’t for Madison paying attention to us, she was failing miserably again as she never once checked back on us after taking our order. The cooking team came out to check on our food which was terrific again.
This isn’t a roast on a new team member. This is a viable mention in hopes a restaurant like this remains in Statesville and this town has...
Read moreFirst time going today, last time here. There were approximately 9-10 tables, approx 4 servers and everyone was waiting so long for food. I witnessed 2 tables walked out, even a table of police officers. When my husband and i finally received food, his was great but mine was cold. No exaggeration. I ordered the prime rib benedict with a biscuit. I had my husband touch my food and he agreed. In disbelief that i was served cold steak, cold eggs, and cold biscuit. Flagged down the server, older woman with white hair and eyeliner. Told her my food was cold, her response was, “oh, she just wanted to make sure she didn’t over cook it.”
Like what? Excuse me? So i can’t have a medium rare steak that’s warm?
She took it back. Brought it back out. Now it’s lukewarm. Not warm, not hot. My biscuit still cold. Flagged her down again. I literally put my cold biscuit in her hand for her to feel that it is cold. I asked if my steak was put in a microwave and she insisted no. Being fed up, i said i don’t want it anymore. Waitress was pissed, and walked off. i would mention her name but she never told us.
Im not being a karen by any means. I was polite about it. I just want hot food. And i was not the only one suffering from this. A table behind us also complained about their food being cold.
What is the problem? Is the kitchen too small? Timeing off? Food dying in the window?
I do not mind waiting for good food. But it was cold. I stepped outside cos i was very angry. Hangry. My husband came out and told me they comped everything and apologized. Its appreciated. But i left very disappointed,...
Read moreHello again, Sherry and Joe, foodies from Washington DC. Living over 20 years in Calvert County Maryland just off the Chesapeake Bay. We are slowly, weekend by weekend eating our way through the menu of this cute Cafe. While this place wholeheartedly deserves five stars it does have some quirks that removes a point or two off a star. Be prepared to ask for a straw and the bench seating along the wall is 2 to 3 inches too high for the table, making it a little uncomfortable to eat. Probably the best place to put the kids to eat. Quite honestly that's all the bad i can say. Everything on the menu is customizable, just ask. Menu items to note. Omg..it's weird but it works...strawberry or apple grill cheese. The owner is happy to explain the history in the making. The bread used is a french bagette, making it all the more interesting. The Greek omlett is awesome and if you like some heat, the chicken and waffles or the One bad hombre. Everything does come off and tastes fresh made. They even have the herb plants they use sitting out. I watch them pick the basil. Everything tastes great to me. This is one of the few places where I actually eat the leftovers in the take home box. I'm picky about bacon. I love their bacon. I can name a few places that I would not recommend NOT to eat based solely on their bacon. You will beat yourself up the rest of the day if you tried your friends home fried potatoes and you didn't order them yourself. Just order them and be happy. Sorry for my jumbled yelp. I hate doing this...
