The Cedar Stump Pub - Statesville — Restaurant in Statesville

We usually go on Thursday afternoon or Friday evening. We are early in early out. Never a bad experience! Fun and enjoyable. We usually meet someone new each time we go. (We love Hannah! ) We appreciate that the owner always speaks if he happens to come in while we are there. We always feel like our visit is appreciated. That doesn’t always happen at most places. I’m not going to change the first part of my review because when it was great it was GREAT. Now, SCS sucks. All the good bartenders are gone. Drinks are 1/2 shot or less. I have watched the new girls pour a drink and then I have ask for a shot. I know exactly how much of a pour is correct. 1/2 shot in a glass is not correct. We leave a generous tip, and we have spent money in this place. I don’t drink beer - so for the love of business give me a decent drink. Don’t give some people a huge shot and others a little shot. Yes I WAS WATCHING the pours. Today at the SCS there was a new bar tender. Her boyfriend was there- she propped up on the counter and sat behind the bar and had a long conversation with him and acted all lovey dovey. She was not friendly and looked like a fish out of water. Most people were laughing and whispering that she was a stripper. This is not what we came for. How ridiculous. This was a place that new people, young people, middle aged, and everyone no matter what came out to have a few drinks, and listen to music, and have a great time Please don’t destroy a good bar with inexperienced people. I am new to the Statesville area and decided to try out the Cedar Stump. I went in 2-3 evenings around 4:30 and it was a small, locals, laid back crowd which was really cool. The bartender that was working on a couple of Friday afternoons I went in for a couple of beers was anything but cordial, in fact rude would be compliment for the attitude she gives patrons. I decided to go back later on a Friday and Saturday night to hear some music, DJ on Friday and live music on Saturday. The crowd that hangs and drinks here after 8 pm is a very rough crowd that gets over served and saw lots drugs being taken by patrons openly with no one that works there trying to curb the activity, not even the bouncers try to curb any trouble before it happens. The entire place also reeked with the strong smell of marijuana both nights, and the later it got, the more trouble that started to happen or almost happened, therefore its not a good place to hang out later on a Friday or Saturday night for someone older/middle aged and mature. I will drop by again for a few beers, but definitely will not stay past 6:30-7:00, as that is when the younger,disrespectful, trashy crowd shows up and the entire vibe changes from relaxing to unsettling at best. Great locals crowd that wants to relax and have a few beers/drinks early evening after work, but after that I can't and won't recommend anyone going later in the evening and into the night. First time there in probably 10 yrs it was a quite lil bar then now they have djs ect pretty packed had a diverse age range and types of ppl the outside area was still nice and cool place to chill will warn ya just like at any bar ppl go past their limits and others encouraging it started a fight that turned into a brawl with fights all in the parking lot with crowds jumping in starting separate fights for no reason other than a free for all lol smh I'm sure ya can find videos of it all with all the ppl recording on their phones and of course the local PD arrives then posts up a lil down the road place was clean fairly priced just need a few more bartenders...
