Peck's Bar B Que — Restaurant in Staunton

I have been a fan of Pecks for YEARS!!! Their food is wonderful, HOWEVER ... tonight (10/4) we pulled into the parking lot at 5:50 PM. The neon sign said open and the sign on the door also said open. We parked in a spot directly in front of the door. (We had been there the previous evening at 6:30 and the sign on the door said drive through only open, when we drove around, the sign "mysteriously" said closed, yet we could see workers inside and their posted hours said open until 7:30.) Because of this experience, we were very aware of their status this evening. We BOTH commented how happy we were they were actually open tonight! By the time we had gotten to the front porch, the door had been locked and the sign on the door switched to "closed" (but the neon sign in the window still said OPEN.) There was a couple eating inside and when I tried the door, the young man and lady behind the counter completely ignored that we were there. No explanation of why they were closing at 5:50 when their stated hours said open until 7:30 or an apology for literally locking the door in our faces. Again, I have been a fan for years, but this form of service isn't acceptable in my book!!! We went down the street to Wrights Dairy Rite and had great food AND SERVICE ...I recommend you do...

I argued with my wife about stopping here, while on vacation. The latest reviews for the place were terrible. She convinced me to go anyway, and I am very thankful I listened to her. We (family of 4) showed up to eat in just a few minutes before closing (not realizing it, as I always try to avoid doing this in respect to the employees who just want to go home) and we were welcomed to sit down and enjoy ourselves. Dinner itself was amazing. I had the brisket platter for $10 and got more brisket than I could eat and (outside of Texas) was the best brisket I have had. My wife had a half chicken, my oldest son got a giant cheese burger, and my youngest son got a bbq sandwich. It was more food (and drinks) than we could eat and only cost us $40. Take my advice and give this place a chance. Covid has killed lots of small restaurants and this one does not deserve to die out! Thanks for the great meal. We...

I stopped by a few minutes ago and ordered 2 BLTs toasted with mayo, 1 bbq with slaw and brown beans.

The bottom of my bag was dripping with bean juice when it was handed to me.

The bag was packaged in the following order: bbq with slaw on bottom, 2 BLTs in the middle and brown beans on top.

My car console has bean juice in it and my BBQ bun is WET and unedible with bean juice! Come on- that's not the way to treat your customers. I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip- I said yes and left $2 in addition to the cost of my meal through a drive thru window.

I am disappointed in the poor service, bagging of my food and food quality. This is not how I've usually been served at Pecks. Maybe your staff should get off their cell phones, put on gloves and serve the customers correctly. We're not an inconvenence. At...
