King's Buffet — Restaurant in Sterling

Awful experience ending in food poisoning. I went to Kings buffet at about 8pm on a Wednesday. Not the busiest time, but there were plenty of other people there. All of the food was bland and dry, under heatlamps for hours. All of the tongs at the buffet tables were filthy and looked like they haven't been cleaned in days. One of them even had hair on it. The least bad food item was the sweet and sour chicken, but the sauce had evaporated so much it was completely gelatinous. The BBQ chicken was highly oversalted and full of cartilage. I got desperate and tried even the French fries, which were of course oversalted and mushy. I also tried a nice looking California roll with fresh looking avocado, but I had to spit it out because the imitation crab had gone off. Lastly I tried the ice cream and jello. The jello had more pectin in it than I've ever seen, I think that may be an attempt to keep it stable for as long as possible. The vanilla ice cream tastes like it was made with non-dairy creamer powder and no milk. The chocolate ice cream tastes like it was flavored with aspartame. After only about 20-25 minutes, the waitress rushed us over the checks and stood there impatiently while we filled out the card slips. I recall her saying something to a co-worker who was walking by that involved the lovely phrase Gwai Lo, which effectively means foreign devil in Cantonese. She then said "thank you goodbye", sort of trying to push us to leave. And I'm writing this review from my bathroom in-between heaving. This was my only meal since noon, so I'm fairly certain it was only King's Buffet that could have given me this wonderful food poisoning. I just moved to the area, and there seems to be NO other buffets in the area at all. So, I tried it today, hoping to do a YOUTUBE video in the near future.

I waited well into the dinner time hour, for a week day, hoping for all that the dinner has to offer, but sadly, there was not very many choices, and the food was mostly older, as if from lunch.

Oddly, the Swai fish fillet and that little fake seafood that comes on a shell, tasted sour as if it was bad, before cooking and serving it on the buffet. so i did NOT eat it.

They charge the same as the Asian buffet in chantilly, but that other place has way more options, like sushi of all kinds and a live cook at the hibachi station, ribs, etc. another one in manasass offers blue crabs and tons more choices too.

The fried shell on shrimp was the smallest i have seen on any Asian buffet in all my years of going to them. but that was tasty enough.

The service was great though.

oh, and they played rap and hip hop music along with liberal fox 5 tv news. i would turn all that off and put some nice gentle dinner music on.

I really was hoping for a good local Asian buffet place, but I guess i will have to make the trip to chantilly (a long ways off, since i moved) or hope for a new buffet to open as this area needs one badly, be it American food, Seafood,...

Overall presentation ilI' give them a c+ upon entering the restaurant the server seated me at the bar I explained to her that I didn't come to drink I came to eat and asked if I could be seated at a conventional table after being seated the second time I asked if the restaurant offered anything besides carbonated drinks the don't offer cranberry juice however you have the option of apple juice and orange juice I requested apple juice retreated to the restroom to wash my hands after returning to the table discovering a large glass of orange juice I kindly reminded the waiter that I hadn't ordered orange I ordered apple she promptly corrected her mistake the buffet selection for s generous however I do worry about the temperature of some of the cold foods I touched the chill table it didn't seem to be very cold the do offer expedited service the turn around time for their table time is awesome I don't particularly like seeing buckets of dirty silver wear however the are using the proper cleaning protocol the restrooms seemed to be neglected to a unsatisfactory level of comfort they have a nice music selection the hostess apeareappa seemed to be bothered I had to go to the server station twice and have my drink refilled it was a Sunday they should have prepared for an...
