Great customer service. Good food.

I read the reviews and was kind of wondering if we should even go here, but the outdoor view and the monopoly pushed me towards it.

So there are two restaurants at the lodge; the cascade dining room which is seated and a little more upscale, then the river rock room which has a bar and different menu. This review is on the Cascade dining room.

Called to book a res about a week and a half out. The girl accepting was new (she told me this) she seemed confused when booking and when I had to change times due to competing events, but when we arrived to the property it was in there (and able to be changed again) so good.

Mrs Jewell the hostess was super nice and professional. She greeted us, was welcoming and was super nice to our son. Her side job is basically to tell guests that walk up that it's going to be an hour wait or so (without a res, on a full house, on a Saturday night mind you), at least that's what I observed, lol. She is awesome. She seated us, was super nice to our son and remembered my sons name as we left. Pretty cool.

John was our server. He had a wide coverage area this night, but checked on us and our son constantly. Made good wine pairing recommendations, knew the menu, provided a small to-go box for leftovers when asked. Overall he was a super nice guy and great at his job. All of the staff, not even working our area was super nice. To include the waves from the line cooks on the way out as they have an open view kitchen (very cool).

We tried a small sampling of the steelhead chowder. Was pretty good. I regret not trying the bison chili, lol.

She had the prime rib, I had a bone in porterhouse pork chop. Both cooked and seasoned well (other reviews must of caught them on a bad night I guess).

The beef was rare as requested (again other reviews), standard au jus and horseradish. Paired with a fresh potato mash and a few asparagus sticks. A really good dish.

The pork chop was thick and cooked well, paired with grilled micro carrots and sautéed onions. With a smear of a bourbon reduction that tied the dish together. I would have liked to see a starch on this dish.

They modified some apples from the kids menu for us so we could feed our boy, super cool of the cook staff.

Given inflation, price for supplies, the lack of servers/cooks in the current service industry and the monopoly that they have on the lodge guests; food prices were fair and servings were adequate.

The wine was ok, local stuff. Kind of high priced. We tried both red and white. Took some back to the room.

I wanted to drop a review because everyone was so nice to our young son and to us. The food was good, the views are awesome and you can take booze back to your room, lol. Try to make reservations if you know you're staying at the lodge over the weekend....

My wife and I stayed for one night. The room was very clean everything was in place and fine, we had a nice large viewing window out toward the golf course and that was exquisite. but ordinarily the room is $280 a night and with our little dog in tow and the extra cost of said dog being $70... Well do the math., and that was on a Wednesday. So I'm sure there are plenty of rooms for less than $280, my wife made the reservation so I didn't even check, but I can tell you that you should be aware of which rooms NOT to get. When you call to make a reservation be sure and ask to not be close to the pool, it's very noisy and it's open pretty late. There's some other rooms you probably need to avoid too, so you may want to Buddy up to the reservation clerk and see if she can put you in a good place. Because if you get a room next to the pool, by the time it gets filled up with kids it's really noisy.. The employees were very kind, and very helpful, & hospitable. I thought the food was quite good. it was well prepared and served promptly and with a cheerful attitude. The only problem was between breakfast and dinner, for two of us- $185, and we did not have any wine or drinks, so make no doubt about it, it is pretty pricey place, at least it is to us regular old down home folk.. The dining area is very nice but when it gets full it gets noisy. The Giant redwood beamed ceilings and a huge Stone fireplace as you walk through the massive front doors, makes the lodge feel warm and welcoming. So even if you're just driving by, you really should drop on in to have some hot coffee and wander around the Lodge and incredibly well kept landscape.. So I would still recommend you try it out ...Use coupons! . But they're showers are incredible! lots and lots of hot water, a great shower head and very clean tiled shower enclosure with glass sliding doors... I thought it was...

Sort yourselves. Epically beautiful venue...one would think a little lunch would be in order. First we read the sign outside that said wait to be seated. Ok. Nobody showed up. So we went inside. "We want to sit out at that table, please", which was next to the other tables, on the other side of the door. One of two tables, identical to all the others, but on the other side of the door.

"Well there is no service at that table, but you can order from the bar", we were told.

Okay. I took 2 menus and two rolls of silverware and went back to the table to form our order.

A few minutes wait at the bar, with a pleasant smile on my face and a menu and credit card in hand, I greet the bartender and tell him I'd like to order for outside. He tells me to find the waitress outside. "Well we are at THAT table...on the other side of the door".

Expressionlessly, he points to the top of the paper menu and says, "Call the To Go number". I'm thinking, paper bag full of paper boxes when I'm literally sitting on the restaurant's patio and the people literally one table over is being waited on?

So I say there must be some confusion because the hostess (and also the bus guy) told me to order from you. So we get into who specifically...wanting me to point etc, and I shrug my shoulders and say, "I don't really care whats going on with who makes those decisions, I just want to order some food".

Call the number on the menu.

Went down to the town of Skamania and had a super reuben sammie and great service.

Sadly, this is the third time in a row that we've driven all the way out there for a meal and been treated like absolute cr*p. No worries, you won't have to deal with us...

This place sure is beautiful, everywhere you look there is beauty, the inside of the restaurant looks amazing, lodge style. The exterior is even better, you get to eat out in front of nature. I wish I was able to express the same feeling about the food and the service, but is not the case. The food was not cook properly, no flavor either, the Prime rib was truly disappointing, two of us did not eat the prime rib steak it ended up in the trash. I feel sad saying this because I love prime rib, the cook or chef needs a better handle on their cooking. The Pizza was one of the worst we have eaten. Customer service that evening was far from good service. The following morning was completely different and much better. There is 15% tip added to your total, not sure why since they are not providing a service of catering to us at the table, we are only buying the food. Everyone eating outside had to clean their table and trash their leftovers and run back inside to get your own refills. To us, our party, we are accustom to leave 15% to 30% base on the service and food.

We went here for drinks at the bar while we were at Skamania Lodge. I have to give 5 stars for their excellent customer service. I came here with the girls first while in the afternoon while we were waiting for our husbands/fiances/boyfriends to be done with their meeting. We didn't order any food since we had to wait for the guys for dinner. One of my friends and I ordered off from the non alcoholic beverages while the other 2 ordered an alcoholic beverage. I ordered the lavender lemonade, and it was honestly delicious. We also came here again after we had dinner in town. The bartender was really nice. We also had another group who was sitting at the bar karaoking. This place closed at 10, but they let us stay there until 11 before everyone got kicked out. Good times.
