Baby's Grill — Restaurant in Stock Island

We visited in late December 2024 on a Monday around noon for lunch. We initially stopped by Baby's Coffee but then saw the food truck sitting outside and thought we'd have a look.

After meeting and having a nice conversation with both the man and women working there (owners? and also sorry didn't get their names), they had just opened the food truck 3 months ago and were still trying to get on Google Maps but were having difficulties. I told them I would try and add it and it looks like it worked! :D

We ordered a kids meal "baby's sandbox" with corndog and tots. Only problem was it was so fresh our youngest said he couldn't eat it because it was TOO hot. haha. We ordered a Coral Chicken Deluxe with the special Coral Sauce. It's spicy and very good. We also ate it with the tots and were told the sauce is made with expresso bean extract from the Coffee Shop. Lastly our middle son ordered the cheese burger and I have no idea how good it was because he ate it all without offering anyone else a bite.

The atmosphere wasn't too bad. Location was good and loved the decorations for the holiday season but there was no shade with all the picnic tables. We debated sitting at the tables in front of Baby's Coffee instead because they had shade and umbrellas. Luckily for us we visited in December so it was mid-70s out and very breezy. This could be a much different story in the middle of July.

If we were driving by on the way to/from Key West, we wouldn't hesitate to stop here again. Good food, good coffee at Baby's Coffee and great service. Perfect...

I don’t know what magic they’re working in the kitchen at Baby’s Grill, but their Philly cheesesteak is next-level. I’ve had a lot of cheesesteaks in my life, and nothing even comes close to this. The bread is perfectly soft with a little crisp on the outside, the steak is juicy and flavorful, and the cheese—oh man, it’s melted perfection. Every bite is the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes and go mmmmm without even meaning to.

After trying it here, I’m officially ruined. I will never—NEVER—order a Philly cheesesteak from anywhere else again. Baby’s Grill set the bar way too high. If you’re even thinking about ordering one, stop thinking and just do it. You...

Several weeks ago, we were on the two wheeled tour of the FL Keys, on the morning we were leaving Key West, there was an island wide power outage, no food service anywhere! ...it turned out to be the best thing that happened! It forced us to ride out to find "Plan B" for breakfast/lunch! We rolled up to Babes Grill - Food Truck...and, what phenomenal sandwiches we found!!! No short-cuts, excellent care in making everyone's food! Hand-chopped, fresh Jalapeño's (no can or jar here) it took the Philly Cheesesteak to another level of good!
